That's because YouTubers believe they're actual celebrities. I went on a date with one once (yes, this person has multiple mentions on this site, and no, I won't say who because it goes a long way to identifying who I am and where I live).
Let's just say that he thought he was the shit because he's making money off YouTube (to be fair, he is making money). He just thought that it would grease the wheels (among other things) to get me into bed with him. However, it was rather off-putting that everything was social media for him. Literally regular reminders that he is watched by a bunch of people on the internet.
Point being: YouTubers might be low-rent celebrities at best, but to the average person, the parasocial feelings are much stronger because YTers are more accessible, and the YTers feed off of that.
