i honestly like this game, i know it was pretty disappointing when it first launched with the DLC and the lack of tournament mode. but with the arcade edition im actually hoping to get it.

im gonna buy the arcade editon so i dont have to buy the additional content, all characters are available when you get the arcade edition.

btw. season 3 is announced and the new characters are revelaed, no longer silhouettes.

I got the game for $60 when it came out.

I am a fucking idiot.

All characters locked behind DLC, all stages locked behind seperate DLC, colors locked behind DLC, etc. Capcom is actively punishing players who didn't wait until the AE. I got the game for $60 and people are gonna buy it for $40 and get 3 times as much content as I got. Fuck me, I guess.

And that's just the price. The gameplay is shit. You can't do footsies because of stubby crouch kicks, yet fucking jabs anti-air. Fighting against characters like Laura, Karin, and R. Mika is actually a less enjoyable experience than hammering nails into my dick. "Oh, you guessed wrong on a single 50/50? Congrats, you get to sit and watch your lifebar tick away without being able to do shit, fuck you." They buff Akuma, but fucking Ryu and Juri get nerfed? And at this point they're literally ignoring the existence of Alex and FANG. Zoning is impossible for any character not named "Guile".

The game doesn't even look good. The hair literally looks like moldy play-doh. Ken's face is a travesty. Abigail's existence is a travesty.

The S3 cast all look enjoyable, and I want to like them, and I want to like this game. But it's just not possible. I got scammed. I'm fucking embarassed this game exists in my PSN library.

Overall, it's the second worst fighting game of this generation, following closely behind MvC:I.

I might check out the arcade edition changes to see if it's actually a good game now, but I have to agree that it was an absolute shitshow from launch until now. The only way it survived for this long was due to Street Fighter being a mainstream franchise and the tournaments making up for it's shit sales.

I really dig G for some reason. Probably because of my love for crusty old men...
Admittedly, the trailer has me pretty hype. That's probably because of how pretty looking and fast moving it is, though.

Btw guys, this game’s community has been behaving quite toxic. Lots of players have an extreme habit of rage quitting. The salt is real.

I was looking forward to SFV a couple of years ago, even though the graphics seemed like a minimal upgrade and Akuma wasn't in the game.

Had to wait on a purchase until I had a PS4, but what I learned in that time was even though Akuma (Mattata) was eventually added, the game's still not worth buying. Watching tournament footage felt extremely boring, with much less combos and overall slower speed. Compared to IV there just appears to be very little mixup, oki votex and variety, and models/costumes have been lazily designed once again with clipping issues.

That's saying nothing about Capcom's practices as well - lazy story mode that pales in comparuson to any other games, terrible gameplay redesigns to classic characters like Ibuki and Juri, no arcade mode at launch, premium DLC that you can't buy with in-game money anyway (and the ones you can you have to work like a slave to acquire), censorship on characters (Cammy, R. Mika, Juri) and further tournament censorship through pandering to ESPN (Cammy couldn't wear her default costume in a match), shithouse new additions (Ed and Abigail the Autist) with bad hitboxes, and huge costume inbalances (Chun gets a new one in like, every update).

I want to remain optimistic that Arcade Edition might fix some things, but the "200 endings" of Arcade Mode will more than likely have the same endings with a different hastily-drawn piece of concept art for each variant. Furthermore, since the Vanilla people were suckered into paying extra for stuff that Arcade Edition gets by default, why shouldn't I just wait for SFV Hyper Arcade Turbo Edition that comes with Season 3? Not like my locals are playing this game anyway.

"Beginning January 16, modes that offered one-time finite batches of Fight Money will no longer do so. This includes Character Stories, the General Story (A Shadow Falls), Trials, Survival, and Demonstrations – if you haven’t completed these modes yet, there’s still a few weeks left to do so before the changes occur in January!"

Also for anyone who wants to play the Arcade Edition, you better get your fight money now.

Haven't played V yet but it looks like the definitive SF game. Rose is coming back too.

Ok i got the champion edition. It looks good it is less than 30 bucks plus yiu get all the dlc as well as the upcoming ppl like rose and Dan I think?

I'm not that familiar with the original stv but apparently capcom lied about a lot of stuff?

The game had no Arcade mode on launch, no 1P Versus among a host of other things. And their "as a service" ploy was more than a little disingenuous. They said you could get all the DLC content "for free", even if that was through working like a mobile-game slave and reducing ways to earn their in-game currency, but suddenly, "Look here! Nostalgia costumes and Premium shit you can't earn for free! Guess we were talking out of our asses there, lads!"

To me, SFV is an utter failure. The one good thing it had was an interesting take on temporarily reducing time on charge character moves, but otherwise it's thrown in every scummy DLC practice you can think of. Lootboxes, virtual currency, in-game advertisements: it has it all.

That AND it burned through all the goodwill of the previous generation. It should be murdering the competition after the high note that SF4 left on, but instead it's steadily given ground to other fighters that have escaped an early competitive death by simply being better products.

I just hope SF6 is a vast improvement in every aspect. It's probably not coming out for a year or two though, so you have a steady player base until then.

Ah damn so not worth it. I was excited for Rose but if it's not worth it then nvm :(

Well if you've got it already you can see what they do with her character, and since 6 hasn't been announced you have some time to look at what they did and fight with some mates. I just consider V to be a vastly inferior game to its predecessors: boring to both watch and play yet survived on brand power alone, and it's because of that awful launch and poor framework that other games like Tekken 7 and DBFZ have been given a chance to flourish where Capcom was once unanimously the leader in competitive fighting games.

My enthusiasm for DBZF deflated gradually as I realized I would have to DLC-pay for the japanese tunes and all of the characters I was interested in.
