I'm surprised, I think that's the first time he's just used an outright photo for a comic.

That's EDP, by the way, who used the excuse he was getting cupcakes when confronted for meeting up with an underage child he was grooming, an act Twomad is also accused of doing, in case you're stupid. The second panel is a real photo of Twomad falling over. The use of a sword and the sole line of dialogue is a Highlander reference.

Can somebody give me a rundown on who Twomad was? I keep seeing everyone saying he was controversial but I don't see anyone saying why.

A guy who did ~20 second skits involving him either saying nonsense or doing pratfalls. I don't know if he did any longer content. He's currently being accused of child grooming but people only waited until he was already dead to accuse him so nothing will come of it.

I think it's because of this recent flareup of leftist creators going "Ackshully the Federation were a satire of fascism and were the real bad guys in Starship Troopers, chuds!" because Helldivers 2 brought a renewed wave of Starship Troopers meme posting.

The obvious problem being that the Federation isn't depicted as fascist. Verhoeven simply heard a muddled description of the Federation's politics and decided it was fascism.
