Even my mother was upset and she was a bible-thumping christian due to his achievements and everything he's done to move physics and scientific work forward in all his years. As we discussed, she and I. He was granted a gift, through life and through his work that will only be moved down if someone takes up the helm. Much like NDT (Neil) and how it happened with him and Carl Sagan.

We may have felt a great loss, but there are hundreds of millions of great minds out there like his, who may be sparked at the news of his death.

I must be a weirdo then because I take him saying women are a mystery as a compliment. This was a man who had an incredible intellect and found women a mystery. Doesn't that mean he was saying that women are complex creatures that cannot be explained in simple terms or women are bizarre nutcases but I doubt that's what he meant. I don't think he was that bitter considering what he went through in life with his physical health.

He had a filthy sense of humour too. Years ago there was a silly late night Channel 4 show called TV Offal which he co-hosted with Victor Lewis-Smith. It was total toilet humour from him which I found hilarious to see such a respected scientist make fart and wank jokes on national TV. It was him shit posting on late night TV. It made me realise you can have a sense of humour while being involved in serious work and living with a serious disability.

I won't pretend I understood half of his work but I think it's amazing what he achieved. Enjoy your rest sir, you've more than earned it.
