I don't hold that against him at all, he was on The Simpsons, Star Trek and Futurama after all, why not appear on America's current most popular sitcom too? Especially as it has a tenuous link to science.
The other shows were actually good. I mean, I enjoy watching TBBT, but ehhh... I was more making a joke about it than anything

I always hoped he'd be the first human to try transplanting his brain into a robot or uploading his mind to a computer or something. You know, go out in scientific style. *sigh*

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll reference it in a totally tasteless way soon.
Hey Sheldon remember our friend Steven Hawking?
Yeah Leonard?
He's dead now.
*canned laughs*
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
*theme song plays*
OUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRR WHOOOOOLLLLLLLE UNIVERSE WAS IN A HOT DENSE STATE

RIP Hawking, sad to hear you went, but in a way, I'm glad your lifelong struggle is finally over.

Well, if there is a afterlife, he will both be Stephen walking and Stephen talking now!
