Starting up a Coal Mine

Hello fellow Kiwis!

I have begun investing into the near untapped industry of black coal in my country and have a simple question: due to legal reasons I need to be able to detect CO2 and was wondering what bird-like creature I should provide my lawfully acquired workforce as my means of detection.
