It's typical consoomer behavior. They'll like it for a couple days or a week at max before they forget about it and then move on to another boring, generic flavor of the week.
Not with this game. It’s a singleplayer Bethesda game. People will be playing it for decades just like Morrowind, Fallout 3, Oblivion, NV (Bethesda made all the assets ), Skyrim and Fallout 4. This isn’t a typical PlayStation exclusive where it’s gone a few months down the road.
Obsidian has ALWAYS been shit

There's a reason nobody gave a shit when Microsoft bought them out compared to Zenimax and Activison/Blizzard
Their fans ALWAYS make that same “hurr durr Muh not enuff toyum”
Every. Single. Game.
KOTOR 2. NV, Outer Worlds. God I remember when those morons were like “IT’S THE FALLOUT KILLER FUCK YOU BETHESTARDS!!!”
And it wasn’t even bad. It was boring….Which is worse lmao.
New Vegas has always been a clunky piece of shit and the “Muh storytelling” was average. I like it, but I always go back to Fallout 4 over it.
I'm not even touching the game.
You’re uglier than Peter Griffin and I would not have sex with you.

While I'm for one looking forward to Starfield, I'm not going to discount the possibility that Bethesda could fuck this up simply because they say that it is now a goal to make this a "forever game".

Bethesda has a certain way of fucking up things when they focus on them.

The amount of sneeding I get when I point out that New Vegas was a janky piece of shit at launch, to the point that it needed a patch on 360 I think to even load in the New Vegas map, and never truly got stable until fans fixed it, is always enjoyable.

I like New Vegas. My favorite Fallout in fact. But god damn is it overrated as fuck by neckbeards

I just don’t give a shit about ANY characters in New Vegas. I actually care about most of the companions in 4 and even side characters. I just enjoyed the story more. NV was a slog to me. I’m just sitting here like “yeah yeah yeah hurry the fuck up gimme my caps and fuck off.”
I do like the setting of it better cuz I love cowboy shit but Boston was definitely fun to explore. Also FO4 DLC shits all over NV DLC.

I've been playing Fallout 4 the last couple weeks, and the little bit of hope it gives me for Starfield is that the gunplay is actually decent, and that for the big deal they made for settlements, you can ignore them past buffing up workstations in Sanctuary. And going back to Morrowind, Bethesda always gave you a cheap and viable home base near the start of the game.

The only real worry I have is how fucking horrendous the amount of load screens will be.

4's companions are leagues better than NV's (with one exception), because I gave a shit about Piper, Cait, Curie, Macready, Nick and Deacon, and even the meh ones like Ada and the Old man in FH. I didn't give a single shit about Boone (muh wife), Cass, Lilly, or Rex. Veronica and Raul were the only ones I liked, Veronica because she was likable and Raul is such a cynical ass I can't help but love him, more than X6-88 or Strong.
The DLCs were lopsided as all hell in NV. Dead Money is a badly written and designed mess that tries to teach the player how to scavenge but the FUCKING speakers kill the tension by grinding the pace to a halt. Dean Domino and Elijah were the only things I liked (and the Holorifle). Honest Hearts was good aside from the spongy enemies (white legs survive a .50 shot to the chest wearing leather armor? Bullshit) and the dickish endings. Wipe out the white legs? GUess what the tribes you saved become raiders. Evacuate the valley? White Legs desecrate the land. Fuck the grey endings shit. Old World Blues was so goofy and overly written (was an hour long dialogue scene REALLY that important?) but the perks are great and I love the toaster. Gun Runners Arsenal was good, but holy fucking hell Lonesome Road was a SLOG. I loved EDE but Ulysses was goddamn so fucking annoying he pissed me off. "BULL N BEAR THE NUKES WERE YOUR FAULT REEEE BLAH BLAH BLAH" (for HOURS) shows the biggest weakness with Obsidian:
They cannot edit for shit.
If they had cut down the excessive dialogue and some of the bullshit quests (like the NCR food machine quest) they could have added much more. Cut out the dumb shit and finish the game. Allocate your time into programming and not writing. A lot of the quests can be added with DLCs, I mean F3 did it with Broken Steel.
Cut out quests that add literally nothing to the game (the Gomorrah rescues and the NCR recruits) and beef up the gameplay.
Obsidian cannot finish a game. KOTR2 was broken, NV was broken, TOW was finished but underwhelming.
Avowed will be TOW of Skyrim: deep as a lake but as wide as a puddle. They'll rip off TES and fans will claim its the best thing since sliced bread. The writing will be bloated and arrogant, and the length will be short.
Autism TDLR: Obsidian was shit and make half baked games. NV is more shit than cultists make it out to be.

This reminded me of the "ssd required" line on the Steam system requirements and I'm feeling the same way.

Hopefully the game requires 16 gigs of ram because they're going to pre-load as much of the map as they can to cut down on load screens, and not because the new Creation Engine is retarded and they decided to make every texture absolutely massive so they can have 16x the detail of Fallout 4.

The only real worry I have is how fucking horrendous the amount of load screens will be.
I'm going to say that they will be frequent but quick. Something about the game engine can handle seamless movement between different spaces so all the indoor areas will have a loading screen. We also have confirmation that there are loading screens for landing on planets. Modern SSDs are going to take up the slack but don't be shocked if Bethesda fuck it up somehow.

You're coping real hard, like a typical consoomer you are.

That's the thing though, CDPR knew it would be a shitty disastrous launch and they still marketed and promoted the hell out of the game. With Starfield there's nothing, it's so bizarre.
How there's nothing? Microsoft shilled this game for one hour straight some time ago. Not even Nintendo does that in their directs.

Well, looks like I'm playing it, since it came free with my video card upgrade. I'm sort of looking forward to it, but knowing it's got the same head writer Fallout 4 had doesn't fill me with confidence. Hopefully dicking around in space will be fun.

I was under the impression the head was the guy behind the DLC, which people really seemed to enjoy compared to Fallout 4.

Or is there like some difference and he's actually just a quest designer and not a writer or something?
