You don't even need that to see how they hate the Protoss.

I mean, from SC1 to SC2, they went from badass, macho space templars who'd glass your planet if you looked at them funny, to a race of namby-pamby hippies who want to be in harmony with nature and be the kind of goody-goody two-shoes that you'd find at Weenie Hut Junior's.

SC1 had the Protoss as their apex race of Space Elves who were badass warriors modeled after the Knights Templar and the Spanish Armada. In the old games, they oozed masculine strength and were ready to kick ass and take names. Their religion, the Khala, granted them focus and strength, making it so that the Zerg cannot infest them, while allowing them to focus their innate psychic powers to reach enlightenment while gaining domination in combat. Basically, a race of hyper-masculine Space Templar Elves whose common soldier is akin to a Jedi Knight. Literally, them going up against power-armored Space Marines has their common grunt coming out on top, laughing his ass off as depleted uranium rounds bounce off his energy shield and his dual energy blades cut open the power-armored marine as if the latter is made of cardboard.

In Starcraft 2, they're more mellowed-out and softer, and the emphasis in their story isn't so much on defeating the bad guys to preserve their way of life as it is just the standard hippie crap about unity and friendship that you see in kids' cartoons, all the fucking time. And oh, that religion that gave them strength, the Khala? Turned out to be invented by their world's version of the Lovecraftian devil, and it has to be discarded for them to survive lest he control them through it. Yep. Even though the earlier parts of SC2 showed alternate futures where said space devil was unable to control the Khala Protoss and he had to eradicate them using the Zerg. Meaning that the message was, let's all get along and get rid of old traditions because they're icky and evil and we're better off making our future without them.

If you're a Protoss player, and you didn't mourn at that, I don't know what to say.

As for the multiplayer meta, it's ever-changing, so wait until the next set of patchnotes make the Protoss somewhat decent. Otherwise, roll Terran or Zerg for the time being. It's not like anything matters in multiplayer aside from winning, anyways.

Are you genuinely forgetting Tassadar and Zeratul's entire plotline which was 80% of both base game and brood war? Fenix was the one to do this shit and he died frame one.

Tassadar sacrificed himself to blow up the Overmind; Zeratul put Aldaris in his place with sick burns.

Come SC2, Tassadar's replacement Artanis is nowhere near that hardcore, and Zeratul is reduced to a side character. He was supposed to be the main character of Legacy of the Void, but no.

Isn't just the Protoss that got emasculated. Raynor went from a badass freedom fighter with as little hair on top of his head as he had fucks to give to a drunken, unkempt, unshaven loser. He even lost his kickass hoverbike, too.

Enasculation is the rule of the day. I suppose if Kratos of all people couldn't escape it, Raynor and Zeratul wouldn't be so lucky either.
 
And Soma won ASL20, his first appearance after returning from military service, against Sn0w (poor guy can't get a break, stopped three seasons in a row by Soulkey, and now lost the finals against an even better Zerg and after Soulkey got eliminated in th RO16) . Amazing how alive and well this game is even 25+ years into its life.


Amazing performance from Soma btw. Not very exciting match, but a dominating showing against probably the best Protoss. Quite impressive.

lol, I just complained about that in another thread earlier this week. It's pretty fucking lame how Kerrigan also said that he didn't have it in him to kill her, so not only does he care less about Fenix than getting some zussy, but she was also right.

And in the end? He doesn't even get to keep her since she went off to buy some cigarettes and never came back.

Blizzard can only write lame fanfiction nowadays.
 
I just want to whinge about the SC2 pricing structure for a second.
I bought WoL and HotS as physical copies back in the day but I skipped LotV as I was doing other stuff at the time. So I should probably be able to buy the 10 year old expansion I need for peanuts right?
Wrong, I have to buy the full game again but wait I do get a discount for owning the others! A whopping 25% discount! Also it turns out WoL is free now so on top of the full price they want from me for LotV they stole the 50ish(or whatever WoL cost) I already spent and didn't get reimbursed for whatsoever.
And yeah I know I'm not missing much of value anyway storywise but I figured I'd finally do a full playthrough of the whole series.

I also wonder why they never had sales for the SC2 Co-Op Commanders and alternate Announcers.
