Younger "fans" don't understand that TCW Anakin and the Anakin in the movies are basically seperate characters in personality and outlook, they dont work together and it makes the prequel movies jarring if thats really how Anakin acts and thinks. I grew up with the prequels and even i saw the night and day difference from the man that tried to be stoic and solemn in his duties as a Jedi and the quippy heroic and somewhat boisterous portrayal throughout the clone wars series.

The short series and the books and comics were far more in line with the original portrayal of Anakin and I would argue even were a better character both morally in many cases as well as how interesting they were. Where Anakin in the comics might question on how they conducted themselves in war or on the nature of being a jedi, TCW's would have moments of tard rage and casually commit a dozen warcrimes and make a joke out of it without really thinking about it.
It’s not just Anakin though.

Obi Wan is meant to be dry, measured, and often butting heads with Anakin’s cockiness and recklessness. But in TCW, he’s a quirky, sarcastic sidekick.

Dooku is reduced to a Saturday morning cartoon villain.

Padme is stripped from the political idealism she possessed (before George reduced her to concern baby mama) and is now a generic action heroine who has to tard wrangle Anakin whenever he has his occasional dark side sperg outs.

I also rightfully say that because TCW Anakin is a different character than the real Anakin, I could see him never butting heads with Obi Wan, never hitting on Padme with corny dialogue, never massacre a village of Tuskien Raiders in retaliation for his mother’s death, never tard rage at Obi Wan when Padme, and never rushing into his fight with Dooku and gets blasted with Force Lightning like a idiot in AOTC. Seriously, go watch AOTC’s lightsaber duel and see how TCW Anakin would behave in that duel. TCW Anakin would probably win in a heartbeat.

>Fan of the franchise gets creative control and immediately fucks up and makes changes to the lore to justify his OCs/headcanon
Am I describing Halo or Star Wars?
It's both.
"Fan of the franchise" doing a lot of heavy lifting.

They're staged shills probably sourced from the same place Amazon found those Lord of the Ring super fans to geek out over The Rings of Power.
Anyone who bought tickets to Disney World and willingly walked over to the star wars section was likely already a fan of gay spics.

remember we're used to special effects now
The special effects now:

There is actually a Star Wars movie in theaters right now
Wait really where??

It’s not even Star Wars' shitty content that makes me mad. I can easily ignore it.

What I grieve is all the wasted time. It’s been 13 years and counting that talented people could have used to deliver quality content.

Even if somehow all the hacks like Filoni were fired tomorrow, and all the Disney crap was decanonized, and actual competent people were magically in charge, it would still take years to fix this mess.

Just fixing the apathy alone is an uphill battle. It’s so bad you would need several hits to turn the tide. The Mandalorian was at best, a one hit wonder.

I grieve for all those bonding moments families could have had from watching a new Star Wars film together in a theater, or dads bonding with their sons, friends bonding over a new film, and all the great movies, shows, and games that could have happened in that lost decade.

That, for me, is Disney's worst sin.

This was the most egregious change they made to a character in the series.

Dooku went from being a measured and, at least internally, justified villain that did what he did because he genuinely hated how corrupt the Republic had become and that it had caused the death of his padawan to fucking Skeletor. He's a dripping-with-malice piece of shit that doesn't care about anyone or anything, including his own side, and goes out of his way to be as cruel and immoral as possible.

TCW Dooku is nothing like the OG Dooku, he has more in common with High Inquisitor Jerec from Dark Forces II than he does the original character.

TCW Dooku felt like a generic Power Rangers villain if anything.

Honestly, we would all be better off had George simply just moved on to other projects after ROTJ and refused to make another Star Wars movie.
He did that. And he waited too long. Lucas with the energy he still had in say 1990 would have made a much better PT imo. But the special effeects wouldn't have been as good as they were in the PT ofc

1990 Episode 1 would've been interesting.

Hell back in the concept phase George was still committed to the idea that Jedi Knights looked more like black-clad Luke in 6 instead of everyone dressing like Obi-Wan on Tattooine.

the one in Labyrinth of Evil where Anakin actively dislikes being a jedi and the order, and has decided he's going to leave it as soon a the war is finished
I think that's out of character, Anakin is too attached to the idea of being a Jedi to leave the order without circumstances forcing his hand. The tragedy is that he wants two mutually exclusive things and it forces him right into the arms of Sheevy P.
The worst part of disney wars to me is no new eu books or comics
There are both, they're just shit. The real tragedy is the lack of tabletop RPG sourcebooks since that's where all the good lore comes from.

TCW Anakin and actual Anakin are absolutely incogruous. Filoni's desperate attempts to marry them by putting Hayden Christensen in that dumbass show just makes the difference more apparent.

Definitely not Hayden’s fault. Hayden was perfect for the brooding, conflicted, arrogant Anakin George had for the movies.

I have a simple rule for Star Wars, If George Lucas wasn't involved then it is not canon.
I wished this was in the OP of the thread honestly.
