So far as I know, there's no indication whatsoever that Islam even exists after society becomes more civilized in the future.
If you couldn't understand my shit-tier sarcasm, then man... I think I may have lost some respect for you my friend >_<

This doesn't make me think Geordi is a Muslim, it makes me think he's a pirate...

Apparently Star trek the motion picture is getting a 40th anniversary theatrical re-release.

I'm thinking of going to see it if I can't sleep that night.

TMP was one of my favorite Star Trek movies. I don't understand the hate people have for it. I'm not gonna go to the rerelease, since I have at least 4 copies of it on various platforms, but anyone who doesn't already own it should definitely check it out.

Ya hard pass from me, there are some really great visuals and the concept itself is pretty good. The movies just drags on and on though which makes it such a slog that I won't even put it on as background noise. I do remember going to see the Best of Both Worlds in a theater when the TNG blurays were release that was fun.

I don't hate it. I just find the pacing to be too slow. I have to be in just the right frame of mind to see it in one sitting.

Star Trek: The (slow) Motion Picture, is literally like someone saw 2001- an already a boring as hell movie, and removed the few redeeming features (I.e. an actual competent director) from it. And then decided to shittily remake it with the child molester dad from 7th Heaven.

I saw a revival of Wrath of Khan around Flaretrek 1 or 2, and the reused spaceship porn shots were really fucking great.
I'm probably going to see TMP at a theater if I can.

Wrath of Khan is literally in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. (No other Trek film is that high for me, for the record) That's probably why I hate ST:ItD so much...

I view Wrath Of Khan, Search For Spock, and Voyage Home as one huge movie. It's basically one long story arc that spans three films.
And yes, this is in my top 5 too.

The Motion Picture was the first pre-reboot Star Trek thing I ever watched. It was so insufferably boring it gave me the complete wrong impression of the older shows for years. It took me a while to realize even diehard fans hated that movie. Eventually I gave it another chance when I started watching TOS roughly last year.

I'll need to watch Wrath of Khan once I finish season 2.

That's your prerogative, I'll grant you they basically tell one big story.. Trek 3 was ok. and Trek 4 was silly AF, but still decent, I don't think either of them was as good as Wrath of Khan though.

Well, Star Trek 2, 3, 4, AND 6 are heavily interconnecteded. They can all work together as one big narrative.

1, and 5 are independent jaunts. 5 only makes minor references to the bugs of the new Enterprise A. So, it can be ignored entirely.

As far as quality(my opinion):

Two is great. Probably, one of the most entertaining action/adventure films ever. Not really a Trek film, nor was it written as one. Meyer was not really a Trek fan, and Roddenberry was kicked off the production(he hated the film)....

Three was ok, largely a film to entice Nemoy to come back(who became director). But, it kinda undoes or swaps the dramatic weight of 2. It has some good dramatic moments, but the movie feels a bit cruel at times. Less Trek, more space opera. More of an extension of 2(from a different writer), than a proper indepedent entry....

4 depends on the individual. It is the most Trek film of all the OC films(outside of one). But, its a border line satire or comedy. Tons of self awareness, with actors practically breaking 'the fourth wall'. Also, it has really dated and silly politics(Nimoy) of its time. But, I enjoy the hell out of the movie...

6, with Meyer getting total production control again, isn't really a Trek film. 6 is a (Tom Clancy) political thriller masquerading as a Trek film. Its wonderful for similar reasons why 2 is wonderful. Probably the second best Trek film....

It's certainly not an awful film. I loved it when it was released, but I think most of that was nostalgia, sentimentality, and the fact it was so nice to see the Enterprise again. Without that, I don't believe it holds up.

I just... largely agree with you except the 2 & 6 not really being trek films.

Much of 2 is evocative of Balance of Terror with a touch of the ultimate computer.

6 easily fits in with journey to Babel and the enterprise incident.

genderbent muslim Geordi.mp4
What a weird takeaway about Geordi being born in Somalia. AFAIK the writers decided he was born in Somalia because they wanted to make a point that even the most backwards, fucked-up parts of Earth had integrated into society, not OMG blaCk MusLimS.
