I'm watching the first episode of the new series, this is boring as hell. There's no emotion or enthusiasm in any of the acting, and the characters have nothing going for them. It's like they're reading directly from the script in a really bored tone. "You're transmitting on all subspace channels available your orders commander."

Also those damn klingons are designed like R.A. Salvatore D&D dark elves or the Yuuzhan-Vong (or whatever they were) from the shitty Star Wars books. In just a couple of years this will look dated and cringy as hell... to be honest, it looks dated and cringy already.

Maybe the Ultra Edginess of the 1990s is now a retro hipster thing. Oh no.

That's one reason why they maybe be some form of mutated or augmented Klingon. Like there is lore about different species of sorts on their planet, but they're supposed to be all dead due to all of the wars.
I don't think they will since they show the Klingon High Council and they all look like bald Orcs.

It is a long story.

So apparently the show will both feature and explain where and how the mirror universe came to be.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’: Jonathan Frakes Reveals the Show Will Have a Special Episode
Nicole Weaver
Star Trek: Discovery is almost here, so more details are coming out about the show. The creators of the series got a lot of buzz after the release of the first pictures of the characters. But they also had to answer some burning questions, like why the Klingons look so different from the previous ones.

Now, there is another detail about the show that is going to have us asking many questions until we can get them answered. According to Screen Rant, the series will have a special episode that will have us looking at the galaxy in a very different perspective.

So what exactly will it be about? Here’s what we know about the episode and how the franchise’s previous storylines could affect it. Read ahead to get all of the theories.

1. There will be an episode exploring the mirror universe

Jonathan Frakes revealed the themed episode on The Continuing Voyage Tour, according to Screen Rant. Any other information about the episode is under wraps, but we know a lot about this universe due to the show’s history. The first episode addressing it was 1967’s “Mirror, Mirror,” in which a few crew members from The Enterprise explore a universe where there isn’t a Federation and they meet their twins. However, their twins are evil.

It seems fairly soon to release an episode exploring our new characters in a different light. But perhaps the perspective will allow us to learn more about them — and quickly.

So what more can we expect from the twisted episode? To get an idea, we looked at what the franchise has done before with alternate universes. Here are six things we know about Star Trek has done with the mirror universe before.

2. We’ll probably see how the mirror universe came to be

This parallel universe has been shown multiple times throughout the franchise, but it has changed, often because of characters’ previous adventures. Since Star Trek: Discovery takes place before Star Trek: The Original Series, we’ll most likely see the origin of the change that made the mirror universe the way it was in the original series.

3. The Alliance will most likely play a huge part in the story

The Alliance has come up in multiple mirror episodes. In Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, we see the mirror version of Bareil Antos lie and say he’s trying to escape the Alliance. In another episode of the same series, Rom travels to the universe only to become a prisoner of the Alliance.

So chances are the Alliance will play a big part in the upcoming episode.

4. An evil twin could play a trick on the crew

In “The Alternative Factor” of Star Trek: The Original Series, an evil character from an alternate universe named Lazarus manages to trick Spock and Kirk by pretending to be his twin. In the meantime, he starts fires, steals energy crystals, and more.

So it’s possible the new mirror universe episode will also feature evil twins that could trick our main characters in the same way.

5. Captain Gabriel Lorca’s twin could be an evil ruler

The episode is most likely going to pay homage to the Star Trek: The Original Series episode, “Mirror, Mirror.” In that one, we see a parallel universe where Kirk is repeatedly saluted by his crew in a Nazi fashion and finds out his evil twin has plans to wipe out the Halkans.

Assuming that this new episode will show evil versions of some of our cast, the biggest player of the episode might be Captain Gabriel Lorca.

6. A strong relationship may be formed with someone in the mirror universe

Even if the crew does discover their evil twins, that doesn’t rule out the possibility of any friendship or relationship forming. We’ve seen this happen before with the mirror universe’s Jennifer crossing over and befriending Jake in Deep Space Nine.

7. A twin could make it to the other side

Although only members of the crew will probably make it to the parallel universe, there’s a chance that a twin could make it to their universe as well. We’ve seen this done before, and it would give us two different perspectives on the adventure.

I get the impression Vulcans get terran fever a lot.

I wonder how Vulcans and Cardies would get along. Vulcans love being catty bitches and that's basically dirty talk for the spoonheads.

Just watched the first two episodes. Eh, I think it'd be okay as something other that Star Trek.

I just hope this doesn't turn out to be something like the Federation getting bombed back into the bronze age, and thus that explains why the Constitution uses lights and dials and no holograms.

Just watched the first two episodes yesterday. Considering all first Star Trek episodes, this one actually ranks pretty high for me.

DS9 > Discovery > TNG > TOS > Voyager
(excluding Enterpise because I never watched the first episode).

Voyager was a fine show for a few seasons but that first episode was kinda garbage

TNG's first episode is really weird. It's like a long TOS episode which isn't bad, per-se, but that style feels outdated for the time

Just watched the latest one. The biggest problem I see is that most of the characters just aren't that likable. You have two vaguely likeable characters (Tilly and Saru) while everyone else is unstable, pissy, or channeling a Dr. Strangelove character.

TNG's pilot was pretty mediocre tbh, bit at least it had Q dressed up like Columbus or some shit.

...And as a hilariously gay judge... guy.

Definitely the most fabulous Trek pilot.

I had nothing better to do tonight than to watch episode 3 and my god Seth MacFarlane's The Orville is a hundred times better than this series. No one in this show seems to know how to give any emotion while acting, or even act at all.

This episode makes no sense either because somehow they know about a faster way of traveling than the fucking borg. Just how advance is their technology supposed to be? Don't get me started with the fact on whether or not they want to stick with Prime Universe or go with the alternate timeline.

Well, The Orville has Brannon Braga as a producer and Jonathan Frakes as a director. Two Trek alumni helping out there. That doesn't give it legitimacy, but it does put it ahead of STD for Trekkiness. If Seth could just get rid of all the modern pop culture references, it would be more decent.

I could give STD a pass if it weren't for the extreme focus on the main character. I want to know more about the others and how they weave into the plot. I like Tilly, but we all know she's going to die in this new serial format. Gotta be up there with Game of Thrones.

I was surprised by how much I liked an episode of The Orville, specfically the one about the bio/planet ship. It was just a neat, classic sci-fi plot. Nice to see that on TV nowadays. I still hate MacFarlane, but that's kinda beside the point now. The jokes definitely need work. I did laugh at the 'practical joke' stuff in the 4th/5th episode.

I know a lot of people hated Enterprise, but I dug it. I dunno, I liked him on Quantum Leap, and it was cool when Al(forget his RL name, too lazy to look it up) made an appearance.

DS9 was cool but the whole other universe stich became corny. Plus I felt Ezri Dax was the Moe Howard of DS9.

But Trek over all is cool. Though I'm not really into any of the movies cept for Wrath of Kahn and a few of the original series movies.
