Saw "Discovery" last night. Black Vulcaboo Chick is mostly obnoxious. Everyone spoke in expository form. Klingons are some sort of Dung Beetle pharaoh looking things now. No sex appeal anywhere.

Has anyone watched The Orville here? I just did and found myself enjoying it a lot. The humour can be hit or miss but I expected that, it is seth macfarlane we're talking about here. People over on /tv/ (and the trek subreddits) have been arguing for months if The Orville or STD will be shittier, but it seems like after the first two episodes of the latter dropped, it was decided that Seth's show is better. Though ofc I've seen people who dislike both. How do you guys feel?

Orville at least looks better. Jesus, the lens flare and Dutch angles in STD were horrible.

While I enjoyed the first two eps, I'm not 100% on the protag. Honestly preferred the supporting cast rather than the "I'm a Vulcan, I swear" human who really feels like someone's self insert?

Also bummed that I can't find Orville anywhere. Netflix why must you disappoint me this way.

I'll be attempting to watch the first two episodes tonight after I wake up. I know my Facebook friends wont like me raging commenting on everything every five minutes like how I usually do with movies, but damn it I know this is going to be terrible.

At the very least I hope these "Klingons" will just turn up as being more genetically modified klingons. It tends to be their trope.

They melded the dna from Amistad-level black as coal bixnoods with these Klingons. Do they make prune juice Faygo in the future?

The Klingons are over-designed. The prosthetics are so heavy they are hiding the actor's facial expressions. The death scene was ridiculous with how blank the guy's face looked.

That's one reason why they maybe be some form of mutated or augmented Klingon. Like there is lore about different species of sorts on their planet, but they're supposed to be all dead due to all of the wars.
