You got me thinking, I never compared the two episodes with each other but it is hilarious how Picards decades in an hour adventure gives him a simple life with a nice family and poor O'Brien's gets him 20 years in a torture hole eating rats. I can't imagine what his trapped in the holodeck adventure would have in store. Julian got to be 007, I guess Miles would probably end up in a thousand years with the clown from Voyager or something worse. :punished:
Speaking of The Inner Light, I always thought they should have revisited it to conclude the series, in my head the perfect send off for Picard's character would be him sacrificing himself at the end of his life for some noble reason and Q stepping in one last time and offering him one request. Picard asks him for the one thing he never got round to doing, starting a family. Q tells him he can't change Picard's history without changing who he is as he already knows (Tapestry) but he can do something he should find sufficient, Cue him waking up again as Kamin only this time he finds no irregularities from radiation when examining the soil.

And maybe one final scene where his Brother and Nephew are revealed to be okay. Fuck that plot point

O'Brien at least got his based racist Japanese wiafu. He probably overheard her ranting about subhuman Cardie filth and scooped her up, having finally found a woman with a high enough racism level to satisfy him.

Now we just have to find Barclay a severely autistic Romulan lady. They can solve engineering problems together, play on the holodeck all day, and build model trains in their apartment. She would (poorly) roleplay as a logical Vulcan suffering the pon-far in the bedroom. This was Gene Roddenberry's vision, probably.

Barclay should hook up with Doc Selar and she can (poorly) roleplay as a Romulan femme fatale during pon-farr. This is my vision, and you know I'm right.

After sfdebris proposed it, I really have trouble shipping Barclay with anyone other than 7. They're both autistic. They both had experiences involving an expanded consciousness. They've both got PTSD from Voyager.

Just saying...

I feel like Barclay and Bashir would make good friends.

Both too smart for their own good, both really socially awkward, both total horndogs.

Yes but Barclay would not survive working under Sisko. The Emissary would accidentally have Garak pale moonlight him within the first week. But if it's any consolation he would feel real conflicted about it in his personal log.

"Miles, we need to talk."
"About my latest terrible assignment?"
"No...I just feel like your racism has lost it's edge thanks to hanging around that sand nigger doctor for too long."
"Keiko, we call them sand monkeys now."
"That's what I'm talking about."

Damn, the subject of Barclay's autistic GF quest is a topic of hot debate. We might have to just go ahead and give him the full autistic GF harem.

"Reg, I heard you were masturbating to me in the holodeck again."
"That's not true, it's not masturbation if the hologram is sentient."

Maybe not that far, but Sisko had a purely military understanding of Starfleet while Picard saw it as an expression of the whole project of Federation civilization. Barclay has a place under the latter, not the former.

Picard: Befriend the man, bring him into your circle, try to understand him and make him feel wanted

Sisko: The day of the geechee is gone boy, and you gone with it

Sisko found a place for Rom. Barclay would have been easy after that.

"Go fix the barkeep's holodecks. You know how to stress test the things."

I somewhat recently did a Google search for “why do people hate Keiko O’Brien so much” which I know why I dislike her, but I wanted to see why other people disliked her and of course I came upon a Reddit thread where it was full of people just praising her and defending her to the heavens.

It was really embarrassing.

If I find it, I’ll post it here.

Or how about that freaky "fantasy world" that Lwaxana took Alexander to? It know it was supposed to be whimsical, but it was pure nightmare fuel.
Well watching the show i always had the feeling O'Brien just plainly dislikes or hates his own family to a degree, finding any excuse, he would rather spend time fukcing around with bashir on the holodeck than be with keiko or molly

It's a meme. People repeat it because Miles being a henpecked husband is funny.

Outside of the internet no one is going to care about a minor supporting character either way.
