I thought it was pre-Kirk and post-Archer??
Trailer says it will take place 10 years before TOS. But I've also heard rumours every season will deal with a different period, so who knows if it's like that for one season only or they're just gonna build a story around these new characters. I feel like they're gonna test the reception first and then go into panic mode and change it all if it isn't recieved well.

The Klingons look shit btw. I don't care if they're (supposedly) some ancient Klingons or not, they still look shit.

Anyway, I've been playing some old Star Trek games, the two Interplay adventure games from the early 90s, and unlike most Trek games, they're actually pretty good. They're like interactive episodes done right, with the entire original cast. There was a third one in the works by Interplay in the late 90's, "Secrets of Vulcan Fury" that looked pretty impressive:

My fave will always be Star Trek Armada:

Despite my opinions regarding Voyager, I really liked Elite Force. I dunno, it just hit all the right notes for me.

Watching the first season of Voyager, suddenly recalling Jennier Lien went full rétard:

'Member when Janeway was kinda old lady hot? Pepperidge Farm remembers

Ok, you triggered my autism and now I have to tell you Jennifer Lien did not play Janeway but Kes.
Janeway was played by Kate Mulgrew.

Amusingly the wiki page on Lien uses an old picture from 1996 when she still was attractive.

So does Memory Alpha. She probably looks like a Tweaker now.

oh I just realized that's her two posts above.

Sorry, I was high. I was just watching the first season and Janeway was in a silky nightgown talking to a Romulan voice only and I remarked she was kinda bangable. I know Kate is hideously old now, like me.
Kes was looking good in the same episode.

I know they are two different actresses.

Most all of the Discovery fluff articles have been "I only heard about TOS and saw two episodes of early TNG".

Been watching TNG for the first time with my Trekkie dad. Does... does the acting get better?

Yep, Season 1. My dad is just constantly in my ear about future plotlines and actor drama.

There are some standout episodes, but season 1 is by far the weakest of all of them. More awkward acting, effects, and the plotlines aren't nearly as interesting. Luckily it's barely 10% of the entire show.

Watched the first two episodes. Honestly, the show's pretty decent so far. It's gorgeous, the setup with the Klingons is engaging and it feels more like genuine Trek than the Abrahms films (but not as much as they promised). There is just one giant problem, that cuntish Mary Sue of a main character.

She's always right (even when the story has to bend over backwards for her), has all the answers, the Captain always does what she tells her to and the one time she doesn't the main character fucking assaults her and mutinies (and she has so little repsect for her colleagues that she later frames it as "trying to save them"), she's super special because she's the only human who ever attended the Vulcan Science Academy and is Spock's adopted sister, her parents died under tragic circumstances, she has a male name for some reason, has a piece of Sarek's soul inside her so he can give life-saving asspats from across the quadrant... she does face consequences eventually, but it's framed like we're supposed to feel sorry for her, when to me it felt like just desserts.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - she could very well be a changed character when the third episode rolls around and all this was just part of her arc. But man, what a horrible first impression.

Also, I have no idea where this dumb shit about the Klingons representing Trump voters comes from. I assume someone on the marketing team got cold feet because there are a lot of similarities between them and ISIS and tried to avoid backlash by shifting them to a safer target. Their take on the Klingon's is pretty fascinating actually and they're the best part of the show for me.

Yeah. The first two seasons are kind of brutal due to a writer's strike and Roddenberry fucking up everything.

Young Kate Mulgrew was pretty hot imo.
