2024 Trump (or his stand in) is re-elected and that turns the world warlike.
'Remember Days of Future Past? This is like that, but less fun.'

Swerve: The Borg Queen is Michael Burnham's mom.

2016 was Hollywood's 9/11.
Trek died with Enterprise.

Berman and Braga were kinda out of ideas and they were never TOS fans. So their idea was to it set in a thinly-veiled allusion to our present time & the "war on terror". Which Nu Trek of course accelerated.

Well, if there's one comforting thing to take out of this, they're less likely to parade a corpse, hire a new guy, or deep fake it beyond Stewart's life.

Like the producers would tell that aged bimbo how many seasons the show would run for. Most likely they had Stewart under contract for three years, saw the ratings for season 1, decided not to bother roping Stewart into another contract, and made up some bullshit story to dazzle that airhead with their storytelling brilliance.

I'm also not sure this story needs to take 10 episodes to tell. This could be a 2 or 3 parter, instead its a bloated mess.

There's a very noticeable trend in a lot of these short-run seasons of shows. The story for the entire season is something that would have been a single or a two-parter episode in the past.

It is then stretched out to an entire season by creating a mystery as to what that story actually is with the show mainly being character drama. This means the bulk of the season isn't actually about the story. It's just setting it up, with character drama and side plots.

Then by the time it comes to conclude it, they have new ideas as to what it is and end up making something that has deviated from the story they started slowly setting up.

The entire first episode could have been a pre-title sequence in a different era of TV.

A line of dialogue of why Picard is on the ship. The Borg appear and attack. The ship blows up and Picard wakes up in the alternate history timeline and Q is there. Cut to opening credits.

I could see a more competent team turning this into a good story. No doubt it will be completely fucked up in subsequent episodes.
I don't know if anyone could, tbh, because, what's even the story here? Trek doesn't work as season sagas, like it's anime.

TOS/TNG: Exploration of space
DS9: A star base life (during the war, eventually)
VOY; Lost ship coming back home.

This was the framework of each show, but each episode is independent from each other: "Measure of a Man" and "The Game" have nothing in common besides both happening in space.

What's the framework for Picard?

I can see what is coming, 2024 Trump (or his stand in) is re-elected and that turns the world warlike. If thats what they do it will be absolute garbage. I don't think these writers are clever enough to pull off this story in a way that doesn't shit the bed. I'm also not sure this story needs to take 10 episodes to tell. This could be a 2 or 3 parter, instead its a bloated mess.
Funny in the context of Biden being the one who is causing WW3, not Trump.

Thats true. I was thinking more the story they are trying to tell; about going back in time to save the future. I subsequently realised, that's Star Trek 3.

I have enjoyed watching the first two episodes. Despite the eye rolls and dumb.

I think this season is going to end up being wild retardation in a hilarious manner.

According to Mr Wikipedia. The season's story was figured out in late 2019 and settled in January 2020. It was meant to film mid 2020. Then the pandemic happened and writing continued and shooting was delayed. It was meant to start filming Jan 2021, but was delayed to mid Feb. With revisions done to the stories and scripts.

It's beyond any doubt the event they must stop in 2024 is Trump declaring himself Emperor and not leaving office. Which doomed the history of the galaxy.

Trump then didn't win.

So they COULD adjust to that. Also, time to throw in insurrection and pandemic stuff. It's now him running for a second term.

They clearly aren't being subtle. I swear I even heard someone chanting "Trump" at Picard's MAGA rally.

The thing is, will it actually be Trump when they go to the past? How bonkers would that be!

I would assume they'll have a Trump stand-in, that's a ridiculous caricature. Which will be retarded.

How hard will they go? Will they mention Republicans and Democrats?

If they stay a bit more subtle on this. Don't directly have it mention who or sides.

That'll be retarded. What if they kept the President's third term? That'll seem like it's digging at Biden.

If it's the Trump stand-in, then that's retarded because it's not our reality.

The entire story may be undone by Trump losing in 2020.

Then all this retarded anti-Trump propaganda. Future of humanity airing while we're under a propaganda war to start World War III. Where the American Empire has fully revealed how the corporate world, big tech, MSM, the banking system and many other things are weaponised powers it will use at it's discretion on anyone.

It's all so deliciously ridiculous and the writers and show will all seem so retarded given this context.
