So turns out the reason Tilly left Discovery wasn't because of the weight limit of the ship, but because, no joke, she's getting her own spinoff show: Starfleet Academy.

This could be good if she plays the Starfleet Academy, kinda like Orson Welles' role in Transformers The Movie

Picard and Riker are the only ones I can think of
Pike is safe, since he always deferred to Michael (even though it made no sense).

She's like Annabelle in Eek! the Cat.

Yes a star trek show with the fat person as the main lead. Finally fat asses will feel representative in Star Trek.
Are you implying that fats are scientifically stupid, @Oats12345?

I have some moral objections to Tilly returning to Earth...
Her gravitational pull alone would send the tides out of whack, flooding much of the planet.

Ol' Uncle Harlan was a galaxy class asshole but stories such as Jefty Is Five and I Have No Mouth are legit classics combining great writing, startling imagination and a real emotional punch.

Apart from being rampantly heterosexual (the guy was married 5 times) the only thing he loved more than writing was fighting, either with words, lawyers or fists.

They really don't make writers like him anymore.
I used to really like his segments on Tech TV. You could tell his demands were "if you want to pay me for you guys showing up to my house and recording me talking for about 2 minutes, that's fine. But you better be gone 15 minutes after you walk in that door".

Hence you got segments where he was floating around in his pool talking about the correct pronunciation of Neanderthal.

He is one of those people who if he weren't a genius would be a lolcow. Imagine getting a job writing for Star Trek and writing what is considered by many the best episode ever, then shitting all over Roddenberry and saying your original script was better, when the episode won a Writer's Guild award for best episode and then your original script wins the Hugo (when it meant something) for best script.

Picard season 3 is supposed to change canon and the Trek universe in massive ways and affect the Kirk era...
Can we just get someone to access the nuke codes and ride a missile all the way to Hollywood, and irradiate the entirety of Souther California, so that way we can have these godawful creative decisions, among many, many more questionable decisions made regarding SoCal? Seriously, what the fuck is with the Hollywood "creatives" that they screw this up?

A lot of K's interviews and comments make it sound like he’s happy he got the job, but only because it looks good on his résumé. Martin-Green sounds similar when she talks about the role (though I’ve seen less of her).

I'm willing to bet that none of them have seen Trek before.

it is possible they have never seen trek, but im thinking more that they have either seen a tiny bit of it or they have seen enough to call themselves fans but believe they can improve it by making it more (((current year))), combine that with not having much writing talent but beliveing that you do and that is how you get nu trek.

Has anyone here read David Mack's Star Trek book in which he makes his friend and lolcow Patrick S Tomlinson a Captain in the Star Trek expanded universe?

wow that looks pretty bad form the excerpt you posted. also slightly autsitic to have nothing but a dry paragraph listing the captains and their ships like that. im guessing most of those ship captains are the nmes of his friends, and if so that's some middle school level writing.

also, i thought the name excalibur was already taken for a ship?

also patrick is way too fat to ever pass star fleet medical requirements for a captain.

Calling it now, they're going to retcon Kirk's background as a natal female who transitioned to male. Sulu will be born to two gay men, via natural birth.
im not sure if they will make kirk trans or not, but they def will make sulu gay even though the original series clearly shows he is attracted to women, particularly uhura. im sure they will further retcon the original cast to be more in line with current year.

About the only positive was Wesley dying.
sounds like the greatest book of all time to me.
