Deep Space Nine, season three, episodes one and two, The Search parts one and two.

So if you can't tell, I am rewatching DS9. I really don't know how I feel about these episodes. The introduction of The Dominion seems sloppy. Their mission, the off-screen stuff with the Defiant appearing, the way Odo finds the Founders when nobody else did before (really?) and the always-lovely Admiral Bitchayev really leave me wanting something better. But seeing Weyoun is always a treat, so that helps a bit. Borath, not Weyoun. I like the Vorta. It is also pretty wild how in some shots Bitchayev (Natalia Nogulich - 44 at the time of shooting) looks like a child. At least it gets better from here.
Admiral Bitchayev would have kicked the shit out of Picard's "Admiral Sheer fucking hubris". I obviously don't like either of them, but that's just objective fact.

The Search I think would have profited from a bigger budget, the founder’s homeworld, and the scenes between Odo, Kira and the female changeling look small being as they are on a constrained little set.

As for Civil Defense-its a fun episode. Especially when Dukat shows up.

Jill Sayre as Mardah. WEW!! Need some air.

Also can we talk about wiki sites? Memory Alpha, Dragon Quest wiki or really any of them. On my computer it is fine. But if I use my phone the ads are fucking obscene. This shit is worse and more intrusive than surfing in the 90s.

Can we get Lisa Kudrow in here to reboot Nechayev?

(To my surprise, Lisa's grandfather is from Belarus, which is Soviet Union territory. Hot damn those Slavic women are fine)

So I decided to wander onto reddit, as I occasionally do to keep tabs on a few subreddits that I actually find interesting, and decided to take a look at r/Star Trek just to see the state of the fandom.
Almost every single post was discussing anything but Lower Decks, Discovery, and Picard. Plenty of convos about Voyager, DS9, TNG, TOS, even Enterprise. Very little mention of any of the new shit. They even had more discussion of Prodigy alone than the other 3 combined.

The highest praise I've found so far is for Discovery which amounted to "It's entertaining, but it doesn't feel like Trek and I don't care about most of the characters that aren't Saru."

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that the majority of the fandom seems to be spitting out the dreck instead of consooming it.

For what I've seen a few times, they simply ignore it rather than go after it as we (and most normal people) do, but when there is a new product coming, they still chill for it and say "aw, let's give it a chance."

Ziyal is a good second. But she's no Grilka. Bajorans are still cleaning the apartment. That said, I'd still nana those visitors.
What no love for Tracy Scoggins and her flat top? I mean come on she'd provide you with many healthy children since she's so fertile.:story:

She was next on the list but we had already made remarks about her on a page previous and I felt like if I included any more hotties with breeding potential in my post, I would have to include them all. And I am very very lazy.

I thought Kira looked way cuter as a Cardassian than she did as a Bajoran.
Robert Hewitt-Wolfe planned to leave it on a paradox, with Bashir being unable to determine whether Kira is Bajoran or Cardassian. That left open the possibility that Kira was unknowingly a double agent all along, and that the Obsidian Order was telling the truth.🤔

In the Memory Alpha entry for "The Chase", the artists talk about how hard it was to differentiate Cardassians females. They're a strong contender for Trek's ugliest women.

They'll never beat Ferengi females in the "holy shit, put a bag on that trainwreck!" department.

Andrea Martin was cringe throughout her entire on-screen life. We're repulsed by her nudity and Rom is comforted by it.

Does the "effeminate momma's boy" trope even exist anymore?
