I don't see the problem in this (heterosexuality was still legal in the 90's), tho he was probably just bullshiting to massage her ego like actors do to each other all the time and doesn't realize how that sounds in Current Year.

Tbh Nana Visitor was only moderately attractive and her character was an annoying nag. Leeta was a lot cuter and Terry Farrell was stunning.

Kira really doesn't get better until the later part of DS9, once she lightens up a little and isn't so focused on revenge for the occupation.
The character worked well as a compliment to Odo, but it never really felt like she 'clicked' like some of the others. I think they were trying to make her the 'Worf' of DS9, until they just brought in Worf and didn't know what to do.

If you really want to talk about annoying, I thought Kai Winn was the worst. Louise Fletcher did an amazing job at making such a relatable and loathsome antagonist.

The whole concept of Warp 10 being this magical margin to break and then everything goes haywire is so stupid, when there is stuff like transwarp. What is so special about Warp 10? It feels like some arbitrary setup akin to real-world-phyiscs FTL in an FTL sci fi setting.
I figured those are different means of travel, so the rules don't apply. warp 10 would be stuff that only that happens at that speed, like the scifi-magic version of breaking the sound barrier basically.
it's all bullshit but you could probably explain it somewhat logically with technobabble.

Any actor that can make you hate them is usually a good one. I bet that kid who played Joffrey is going to grow into some Oscar shit.

I imagined going warp 10 or above might make you physically enter subspace rather than just passing through it which could probably fuck you up big time, subspace has always been this weird unfathomable dimension so it can serve as whatever macguffin the writers need it to be so hell maybe that shit can lizardify you. There are probably ways to compensate for this that the Borg and others have figured out but tom didn't know enough to account for it.
Damn there really are an infinite number of better ideas or at least better ways to explain it other than "infinite velocity" which is just stupid.

they might have just labeled it a bit off, I imagine they thought "what if you're so fast you're everywhere at once" or something (which probably would be a bad thing considering how it would fuck with time for example).

The only thing worse than hate is indifference. Fletcher reminds me a lot of Dianne Wiest. She was seemingly everywhere, and her lack of range started to show through.

Rachel and Joey, Jackie and Fez, Robin and Ted, Kira and Odo.

Sisko and Kira might be the most overlooked Captain and First Officer. They both had a bit of a rough time before the show, but the service called them back. They have a very consistent arc where Sisko makes the tough decisions and Kira enforces them. Kira herself is in an interesting position, in that she is not really Sisko's subordinate. In principle, she doesn't need to follow Sisko's orders and can even issue countermanding orders. If she did, she would probably get booted out, but there's no direct chain of command there. So while Sisko can "order" her to do things, it's really on her own recognizance.

I liked Kai Winn. I hated how DS9 really wanted to be the "cool outcasts" of the Star Trek universe. Maybe it's because nowadays EVERYONE wants to be that, but either way, it annoyed me. Winn's soft-spoken manner was such a great balance to everyone else's shouting. She was supposed to be a maternal figure, but instead she was like, "What, you thought I was gonna be nice 'cause I'm an older woman? Fuck you, heretics." I liked that she upset the station's qUiRkIneSs. But, like all the good villains on that show, she just got more and more emotionally retarded, because that seems to be the ONLY way they knew how to write them out of the show.

Are you one of those people who hate DS9 for ideological reasons? (They didn’t “go" anywhere!)

I have no rebuttal.

She's perfect for playing bitchy, manipulative, passive-aggressive characters. Most actors couldn't give you even one memorable performance but Fletcher knocked it out the park on DS9 and One Flew Over.

I think this means Sisko was the Manager of the Prophets to her Space Karen.

I thought the idea of a space station on the frontier was a cool idea! Just wish it didn't look like a space mall. The wormhole was cool, just wish it wasn't automatically turned into Dominion territory, which means no fun exploration episodes. Except for the ones involving Odo, like "The Alternate".
And who you callin' a guy?

What are you talking about? The Dominion didn't come up until season 2. And only mentioned in passing first in episode 7 before actually appearing on screen in episode 26.

They did have exploration episodes during those seasons and even some after the Dominion was introduced.
