I still can't get over how shit the Discovery Uniforms look who would think that a military operation would have tiny versions of it's symbol all over it is a good idea? Everything down to the smallest details of Discovery screams WHY?

I think that just like The Orville, Discovery is required to keep the uniforms significantly different from pre-JJ Trek uniforms. Same with ship designs, isn't that right? That might be part of why they look so terrible. Also the people running the show are from Hollywood's creative gutter, that surely doesn't help.

The clean, simple look of the TNG/DS9 era uniforms were so classy, I do miss that. The STD uniforms look like they were designed by Pearl Izumi.

I was really hoping that with Pike taking over they'd change all the uniforms and was seriously disapointed when they had him change to a Discovery uniform at the end of the first episode.

They're easing them in, I would expect them to be using them by the end of the season. The current design was clearly someone saying "let's make something that looks halfway between the TOS and Enterprise uniforms so we can switch a few seasons in."

I very much doubt that. 100% the STD uniform was made by someone going "lmao these old jumpsuits look so gay and silly, we gotta make ours look cool and epic". But then no one liked them and now they're trying to pretend they always had planned to eventually get to the updated The Cage/TOS era uniforms.

Doctor Finn wins the awards for Thirstiest Woman in Space for having sex with both a robot and a hologram at the same time.

Do you think there's a sensor in the holodeck that summons a cleaning crew every time one of the crewmembers has sex in there?

Fun minor drama: CBS moderators on r/startrek are having a fit about people mentioning that Tilly is chubby and deleting comments talking about how silly it is someone in her shape won a marathon in the latest episode. Soo many nuked comments: here

Also mentioning Georgiou's accent or *any* character accents has been made off-limits:

If you're talking about a colored person put some respect on your lips!

Stuff like this reveals that these actors were hired exactly for that reason. It makes no sense in terms of story or character, it's all about shaping a narrative for a potential damage control. The actress who plays Tilly got fatter during season 1, there's a scene in a later episode where she couldn't zip her jacket.
In other productions like BSG or Stargate Universe it was required for the actors and actresses who had a military role go through physical training. Katee Sackhoff and Jamie Bamber for example had to get fit for their respective roles.

Making fun of Trek actors talking funny and getting fat has been a bedrock of the franchise for decades.

Why not a holographic cleaning crew?

J/K. The holodeck makers probably designed it so the whole room is rinsed automatically with bleach after every session.

Yeah it feels like it was their idea all along. The character was bullied the second he got on the Discovery. The nuSaurian sneezed on him, no one gave him a tissue and the camera pans on Burnham smirking. Later he explains the situation like a proper Trek character using techno-babble then Burnham interrupts him to say the exact same thing but in a brainlet way (for the "I Fucking Love Science" people) and Pike makes fun of the guy for using too many words.
This Pike is really bad. He isn't like the original character or the one from the JJ movies. This one doesn't give a shit about his crew.
The next episode will introduce Number One. Rumors say that she's a tranny.

Discovery is definitely not getting a season 3. Supposedly already cancelled just not announced yet. They're probably waiting to see if they can pull up the viewership numbers at the 25th hour. Not going to happen.

I really tried to make it through the latest episode, but it was pretty much the worst shit I've seen this side of Walker Texas Ranger, and in no way even remotely Star Trek. It is a showcase for the worst casting, lighting, photography, direction, and writing in all of modern TV.

Also, I wish that Doomcock guy would hire someone to do motion graphics to illustrate his videos for him. He's got such a great voice, but with little to no visuals his videos can be tedious.
