Weirdly I’m in the category of maybe they should’ve gone for a more supermarionation look to it.

But that’s because I find Gerry Anderson’s shows cool.

Why can't they just make another one? It's an extremely gameplay heavy series with lore that only marginally affects things.
It's not like anyone's going to get confused if they haven't played the previous games - you could literally replace all the briefing screens with:

Half the team was from the UK so there was almost certainly some DNA from it.
This is more evident with their previous game, X on Game Boy.
 
In the game you meet Katt on that planet full of toxic waste and shit, so maybe they made her look like a wasteland ghoul cuz they’re implying it’s her home planet that was fucked up by Andross
 
The re-re-remake of Star Fox 64! Where the Venom army has been replaced with "people with different government views" and all of the Arwings have been replaced by Walkie-talkies!

I don't think it's directly comparable. It's kind of the opposite problem. Original movie Sonic looked terrible because he was uncannily human-looking. These new Star Fox designs look goofy because their anatomy is overly close to the real animal they're based on, leading to weird postures and inexpressive faces.
 
Yeah, bad news about Event Horizon: the developer's not having a good day. I'll post pics later, but he had a mental breakdown on his Discord after the game announcement. The coherent bits I caught was how he "misinterpreted what fans want, since they're just going to buy 64 again after saying for years they don't want another 64" and some stuff about how he "failed my boy".
