What do yall think I think star citizen is just a nightmare technologically I mean the game runs like shit now with only 3 or 4 planets with a few moons what about another star system. I feel like they focused on a bunch of bullshit except for focusing on the main game. Don't get me wrong I hope it's possible but I don't see us having the tech to get it done in the next decade unless major breakthroughs occur

I don't know man. Every now and then I see some wild awesome stunts with that game, but it's all so high spec it feels kinda niche at the same time.

Star Citizen Persistent Universe we have access to is just a test bed for features for the game they are focusing on, Squadron 42. Updates are mostly test mechanics for S42 with a bit of fan service sprinkled in. i don't expect any game system to be fully fleshed out or deployed on all ships until s42 is mostly done or gone gold. I play and have fun with what's there, other stuff comes when it comes.

>implying Squadron 42 is coming out

I will chime in as a backer.(a retard)
Star citizen has only recently become an actual game. But it is making progress. Most of us believe this progress is being totally consumed by squadron 42 instead at the whims of whatever bullshit Chris Roberts feels like implementing these days. I love playing star citizen when it wants to cooperate and play nice and I absolutely despise it when it has as much stability as Terry Davis. The biggest issues are server performance and player sync at the moment.

Performancewise star citizen has had huge gains in graphical performance over the past year and it went from unplayable on my 5+ year old system to 30-40fps at most points
at sub 20 players the servers run stellar however once they pass this it starts to bog down severely, but even at 110 players it doesn't become unplayable.
Server size has increased from 50 to 110 within the last few months as they continue to stress test, and they are talking about upping it to 200, I imagine a lot of the performance issues are caused by the game likely running in debug mode at all times.
Other developments of note include how squadron 42 has been removed from the store page for a few months now ahead of citizencon with no word on when it will be returning, however a recent monthly update on squadron 42 stated that the "level design teams have finished the majority of their work and have moved on to quality assurance" (ie; making sure there arent random soda cans and plants floating around)
Another large development is when starfield released star citizen suddenly had a large array of quality of life improvements announced for then next update coming this year almost overnight. This tells me that Todd Howard has definitely shaken them considering their position was previously not bothering with QoL and major bugfixes unless absolutely necessary.
My current verdict as a backerfaggot is to simply wait and see if they actually cough up anything on SQ42
If you are going to actually try the game then I beg you to wait for a free week which happens regularly enough instead of actually buying in.
If you are interested in what the game looks and plays like try watching Buzzcut hes a planetside 2 vet(number one on the leaderboard for terran republic) and has a pretty middle of the road opinion on the game

Also for the love of god I hope they implement FSR2.

Ah jump town the fabled never ending battle sight. I've had some cinematic moments I remember one guy got like 15 people in a party and had a big ass ship, I think it was the carrack, and we all had a role on the ship. That was fun but it was deffinetly not the norm in the game

It is a scam that makes Starfield feel good by comparison.

It got a glorified alpha after a decade and how many millions?

If it isn't a scam, it is Chris chan tier incompetence.

By now i think the possibility of the game actually launching with 100 star system, as it was promised, is below zero, specially considering the fact that CIG only managed to put out a impressive amount of one star system in 10 years

This is for me the most dissapointing fact about the whole ordeal, starfield may suck in many aspects but at least it a actual corner of a galaxy to explore

Is Chris Roberts' wife still financing her acting career and first class airplane tickets with backer money.
She is a great actress!

Well, they've managed to finally figure out how to animate the Hull C...Of course, it's only available on test server and it has it's own set of bugs.

now they only have dozens of paid-by-baackers ships to finish that still do not exist in the game

I think its cool that they wanna make a full MMO or whatever their goal is.

I would have liked it if Chris Roberts focused on getting the Staton System up and stable, added functionality for multiple crew members to work on a ship, and then released it as a small scale game with like 1-100 players and sold it for like 60 bucks on steam.

They could use the funding from that to keep developing the main Star Citizen project and then spergs like me could have had my "The Expanse" game about hyper realistically hauling cargo on private Roleplay servers and been fine.

Instead we've got a decade of not meeting development goals for a project that barely functions.

Oh that's good to know, I was actually about to shell out money for this. Nice to see there's an opportunity to try it out. Any guess when the next free week might happen?

Star Citizen is somewhat emblematic of the modern gaming industry and its consumer base as a whole. They've spent over 10 years on this game, suckered people put of large sums of money via doodads, JPEGs and false promises, continuously added new half-baked ideas beyond the original scope that dilute and weaken the game's integrity, and everyone who fell for it continues to huff the copium and be reassured that it will be what they want before they die of old age.

Probably mid October or November when they host the annual event stuff. they tend to announce it atleast a few days ahead of time for the most part.
