The new 52/rebirth Batman/Superman relationship is pretty weird. My personal take was Bendis was just having Clark kinda talking bs to his kid to be more relatable, but it wouldn't be the first time Bendis ignored years of continuity in favor of doing his own thing.

I think the Batman thing was an homage to an older comic where Batman couldn't beat KGBeast, so he trapped him under the sewers and sealed up the room to leave him to starve to death. It was later retconned away as Batman knowing Beast would escape somehow. I don't think that particular ending is the worst, but I don't think the arc really earned it because it was so quick. It felt like they skipped the middle entirely and just set up the beginning, then jumped right to the end. KGBeast also came off as rather generic. They did a good job establishing he was skilled and a threat, but eh, he could have been replaced with anybody. I at least got to type KGBeast several times, so there's that.

Can't comment much on Shuri, but even CBR said it was pretty meh, and they're heavily in favor of being pro-everything Black Panther to show how woke they are, doubly so if Shuri was involved.

I don't read Sideways, but I heard Morrison was behind it. Is Sideways any good? I heard it was okay, but the first issue didn't hook me, and I wasn't a fan of any of the Dark Multiverse stuff Synder was doing in general.

Seems we might not last long in current Nightwing arc: there is a new Nightwing (Dick attempt at burning Nightwing stuff failed) there's a reveal it's been months since Dick retired, a cop that looks like he's a good one by Bludhaven standards puts on the Nightwing costume but since he doesn't have Dick training we see he added a holster and gun to the costume, there seems to be a group of other people that call themselves Nightwings but in issue 54 they chew more tjth they handle with Scarecrow so Dick will have to do something besides being a cab driver

Meanwhile I learned Damian is imprisoning his enemies and torturing them for information (supposedly he has been in contact with Jason who's back to being disgraced (wtf?) toto lea how to handle his own desires for violent vigilantism and that's were he would have learned that and from his tortured prisoners how to draw an assassin that was hired to kill commisonner Gordon but they faked Jim being shot (it was a team member that casted an illusion on herself instead) and that his team, the jla and the Gordon's have not being informed.

There wasn't one. @Francis York Morgan is probably talking about 2015's Secret Wars which everyone assumed was "CoIE but Marvel" which is not the case. The main Marvel universe is technically the same as it has always been outside some refugees being stuck on that universe but they are acknowledged to be foreign. The one exception to this is Miles Morales, who due to a favor Molecule Man owed him, copypasta'd his family and supporting cast into Earth-616 so he can live there.

Books like Spider-Men II show Miles himself is still a character from the Ultimate universe and remembers everything from there. As dumb as it sounds, Miles basically has two sets of memories in his head, Ultimate and the tweaks Molecule Man did so he doesn't stick out. 616 was not merged with Ultimate or any other universe in any sense.

It's a common misconception though.

I admit I haven't exactly gone looking, but in my limited experience, eh, not really. I just use them for factual news, primarily release dates or writer changes and things like that. You might get lucky with some trivia based articles, but anything that requires even a bit of nuance tends to fall into the most cliche of SJW writing.

So I spent last month reading recent horror comics. Nothing too heart-stopping, but I had some fun.

Ice Cream Man is some super fun Twilight Zone stuff.

I really enjoyed Blackwood. Super engaging story written by Evan Dorkin, of M ilk and Cheese fame.

And I don't care what anyone says. Archie Comics is fucking nailing it in the horror department.

Dark Horse is pretty good in the horror department as well. If you want to go a bit more obscure, Coffin Comics has been doing Lady Death comics, and NSFW is in full effect when it comes to Lady Death. In other news, I picked up a copy of the first collected book of Archer and Armstrong, along with getting it signed by the creator. I also got some of the SwordQuest comics from Dynamite, and the E3 2000 exclusive Vagrant Story comic book. I'm also on the look out for the collected editions of the James Bond comics by Dynamite.

Amid all the noise and static, Sinestro Corps, Final Crisis (Along with Morrison's leadups) and Blackest Night defined my teenage years while Jonathan Hickman's indie work like Red Mass for Mars, Red Wing and Pax Romana kept me coming back for more while realizing there was this growing divide between the die-hard reader and the casul.

Haven't paid attention to most "comic book" or "nerd" websites since 2012. Morrison's New52 Action Comics run was 25 years of worth of Superman condensed into a 3-hardcover trilogy, and combined with Hickman's long running leadups to Secret Wars, these were the books I found hard to put down and helped me through some pretty tough times. Ever since ignoring the cuck takeover of mainstream comic book websites, I can tell you I was absolutely thrilled when I saw this book with an animal skull and no obvious title at first, before turning to the spine and seeing Hickman's name there. I then realized that my man Hickman's returned with his Black Monday Murders.

That's what a real comic book publication does. It fills people with hope, despair, joy, dread and ultimately, the real thrill of a story.

Hickman is reliably very good. I'd put him and Brubaker as the best of the current crop of writers (well, Brubaker is off doing TV shit now, so his output is sporadic). Probably the only Hickman quirk I don't like is his characters having a tendency to spout portentous nonsense.

Never liked Final Crisis. I hate Morrison waxing about the types of stories he thinks comics should be about - it's self-indulgent and isn't conducive to good storylines (Superman building a wish-granting machine? Singing a perfect note that pains Darkseid? What the fuck!?).

So turns out the Supervillain making Bruce life terrible lately was revealed: Bane is back and in the latest issue he got really damn serious by hiring Penguin to kill Alfred (Penguin hire assassins) but Penguin orders the assassins to kill themselves and talks with Batman and I think Penguin knows who Batman is because this happens after an issue of Jason's comic where he takes off his mask before shooting Penguin in the face in an attempt to kill him (Penguin wears an eye patch over the eye he was shot
