The entire thing is really fucking stupid and I hope Mark Waid gets taken off Avengers after this. When they first teased Voyager (that's the character's name) in Marvel Legacy #1 I thought they were going to go the Sentry route where everyone forgot her and they need to figure out who she is to end the current crisis. Instead she literally just shows up in the first issue of Avengers No Surrender and everyone knows who she is. She literally reads like a perfect Mary Sue that everyone loves and it fails horribly because the reader doesn't know who the fuck she is.

I actually really enjoyed the Sentry when he was first introduced back in New Avengers, he was basically Marvel's version of Superman who was plagued by the fact that whenever he did any act of good his enemy the Void would respond by doing something twice as evil. The story had a good mystery, everyone was trying to figure out who the Sentry was and why no one could remember him. The eventual reveal that Sentry was also the Void was a good twist, and the reveal that Sentry essentially committed suicide by not only making the world forget he existed but also altering his own memories so that he thought he was an entirely different person made him a really tragic character.

The way Avengers No Surrender is going, I'm assuming that Voyager is eventually going to be revealed as a villain since she magically shows up when all the senior Avengers are out of commission and her powers make her conveniently very useful during the current crisis.

I mean, hopefully, but expecting anything out of Marvel after the last 5 years is highly optimistic.

I have been mulling this over since watching the Death Battle between Black Panther and Batman. How does Marvel's Vibranium stand up DC's Nth Metal? Both have vastly different properties with Vibranium'sability to absorb sound and kinetic energy and Nth Metal's ability to negate gravity in addition to its hyper conductive and anti-magical properties. One thing that I found interesting in the Wikipedia entry is that Nth Metal is a "counter-vibrational" material as per Dark Nights: Metal, so could it theoretically damage anything made of Vibranium? If that is the case, I would not mind seeing a Hawkman vs Black Panther fight.

Nth Metal is "counter-vibrational" in that it's apparently very effective against beings from the Dark Multiverse, and will probably have some other properties added to it by the time Metal is done.

On the subject of Black Panther vs Hawkman, it should be incredibly one-sided in Hawkman's favor. One of the things that bugs me about Hawkman is that he's almost never listed as one of the greatest fighters of the DC universe, when the man literally has thousands of years of combat experience. Metal has retconed him a bit, and established he's been getting reincarnated since caveman times. Even ignoring that, the man has been kicking ass since at least ancient Egypt and he has access to all of his memories and past experiences.

So that Gotham by Gaslight film is pretty good, hope it gets a sequel

Hawkman is probably one of DC's most under appreciated characters and one of the ones constantly screwed by rampant retcons. I really liked what Geoff Johns did with the character by making him an Indiana Jones-type character with wings and a mace as well as a bit Conan the Barbarian and ancient aliens thrown in. I think it would have been more interesting for Death Battle to have pitted him against Black Panther instead of Batman. My running theory is that T'Challa's vibranium weave suit would not have been too useful against Hawkman's Nth Metal mace as Mister Terrific noted that the material could potentially manipulate the other fundamental forces of the universe.

finally g0t around to reading Multiversity. Adored every bit of it- I really cannot wait until Multiversity, Too starts up.

Looks like Marvel is planning a line-wide overhaul later this year.

Among them is Jason Aaron and Ed McGuiness on Avengers, which will be published eighteen times a year. From what I read, it will feature Captain America (Steve Rogers), Iron Man (Tony Stark), and Thor (Odinson, not Jane Foster) as its nucleus with a rotating roster. While I am reserving judgment until it hits, I will admit C.B. Cebulski is a better salesman than Axel Alonso, who I found to be a wet blanket when he pitch Legacy to the fans.

The rumors of Dan Slott undoing OMD as his big thing for his final issue (#800) seems pretty likely at this point. While it seems most people want the marriage back, expect some minor salt from people who either dislike the idea of married heroes or wished Mary Jane was black/someone else. I really hope it's true and we get a decent writer after. That would improve my Spider-Man enthusiasm by a lot.

Sometimes I wonder if those writers were just inserting their fetishes. Considering it's established that Clark sometimes keeps souvenirs from his adventures, god help us if someone from DeviantArt grows up to write Superman.

Sadly, I think it's too late. Thor's story has been so badly damaged by Whor, Unworthy, Angela and War Thor that there's no redeeming factor in (finally) removing Jane Foster and bringing back the original guy. His story is still fucked and he has nothing to bring to the fore that another comic couldn't do better. Before he had that mythological twist going for him, now two people have taken his literal name as a title, the Spawn angel was turned into a secret sister dyke, and Loki became a tumblrtard. I'd rather have it dead and buried at this point.

In other news, it looks like they're also going with the idea that Bruce turns into Hulk only at night (i,e: who cares anymore?), so I'm not holding out any hope for Marvel right now. How's DC doing? I haven't really picked up Rebirth out of similar concerns that it turned to shit.

I still don't understand why DC thinks Bendis is this huge get. I can see why it's a big loss for Marvel, because regardless of how awful he's been for years, he was definitely their biggest name, but literally nobody likes Bendis and hasn't for like 10 years. Why DC think this is an amazing new direction and something that people will embrace boggles the mind. It doesn't matter if you go to so-called "alt right" areas or "extreme SJW" areas, everyone has the same reaction: "Oh fuck, it's Bendis".

Yeah, it's strange. This comparison doesn't work as well as they both made comics but Bendis is basically the Joss Whedon of comics. They even have similar flaws in their writing styles, are disgraced from SJW circles over some stupid shit, and were "popular" because of stuff they made that ended ages ago.

If Bendis is legitimately passionate about Superman and the editors are willing to hardball him then I can see this going alright. Not amazing but passable. I'm still annoyed that Super Sons is ending to make way for Bendis Superman though.

Considering how popular Super Sons ended up being, it's pretty shocking.

Remember. Politics (both the dumb SJW type and the petty office/social type) rule comics these days. Bendis likely called in favours, and the autistic editorial team probably hated Super Sons for the usual dumb reasons they hate successful comics and concepts.
