When i was young the Sandman titles were always so esoteric and edgy to me. Only having access to a few of the titles and what i could stitch together from wizard magazine and the such. Looking back on it now i wonder if it was almost entirely pretentious crap etc.

Just found out that they are going to adapt Watchmen to a cartoon.

Niggers, there is already a motion comic, what the fucking else do you need a movie for.
DC animation has been in a death spiral since Dark Apokolips War, which I liked cause it was metal, didn’t star Batman and the main characters were John Constantine, Superman, Damian and Raven.

But their “Tomorrowverse” has been a disaster and their budgets have clearly been slashed but they still insist on celebrity VAs. I think Red Son was their last good adaptation and they still fucked it up by cutting out the time-loop and the letter.

“Why don’t you just put the whole world in a bottle?”

I can take one look at that shit and say it’s pretentious crap. Those “edgy/esoteric” Vertigo books paved the way for dumb fag-shit invading comics.

Vertigo getting shut down was one of modern DC’s few good calls.

Zack said once on a community post, I forgot which but I think it was a review of Hitman by Garth Ennis, he said "the edgelord ending is from a time when talking about your feelings was edgy and not cringe like it is now". I really dont understand especially in an action comic how talking about your feelings is edgy, like ever. This is not porn or slice of life, how is talking about feelings even remotely interesting if not edgy? Especially how in the fuck did the dark and edgy 90s consider faggotry to be good storytelling, who the fuck was incharge of that.
Garth Ennis Hitman has also one of the best Superman stories ever written with hitman#34.
It is a very human story and show that even Ennis likes Superman.
edit.
Also, If you are fan of Cyborg superman being a fucking dick, you can read the superman vs terminator crossover.
It is funny as shit how he just go "hell yeah, i ally myself with skynet, fuck you superman!"

That’s a thing?! Oh I’m reading that tonight.

Hank is hilarious because he will ally with anyone, no matter how bad or omnicidal if it gets him a shot at Clark he will join in a genocide crusade.

One of my favourite Henshaw moments was during the Sinestro War, where he got beaten and dropped at Superboy-Prime’s feet and the Prime retard just goes “Mr Henshaw?” in shock.

I would love to see what interactions those two had to make Prime of all people respectful and proper. Hank was working with Anti-Monitor in hopes the old crisis villian would do the deed and we saw that interaction.

idk who spoke about how the N52 may have been originally some kinda "new generation" of all the '90s Legacy heroes and 00's ones and Titans stepping into their full role, but reading the 00s Teen Titans book as well as the last Arc of the pre-n52 Outsiders, I'm inclined to agree.

I think the dark and edgy shit needs a proper writer that knows what they're doing, otherwise it's garbage.

Ennis' Hitman is a fucking fun series. I loved the little end of the JLA/Hitman series where Supes says "I offer a prayer for the soul of a killer". Tommy Monaghan was fun and I'm glad he hasn't been revived for bullshit reasons.

Sandman is weird. I get the ideas are big, but it's still very obviously superhero adjacent in a way that I can't explain right now.

Tomorrowverse fucked up because they really need to focus on the quality of the work, not the VAs. I liked the bold-lined look that reminded me of New Frontier, but they kinda kept moving too fast. At least they tried to set up things, but we never got to see Hal Jordan as a hero.

Nice-ish JSA adaptation I guess? I don't have a major issue with Wondy being the first publicly seen super-being in an animated golden age because it simplifies and streamlines stuff. Obviously, they need a name draw and the implication that Sandman and etc, were stalking around in the shadows beforehand is a nice touch.

that superman story is great.

the JLA/Hitman crossover was a good epilogue for Hitman.

Hank is a groupie for anyone as long as it lets him get a shot at Clark. Honestly kinda based, but Superman's rogues have the problem of already having Brainiac be the big robotic villain.

While it was just dumb fun, but I loved this callback to Eradicator’s sacrifice (Eradicator was more of a Terminator-homage than Hank ever was tbh)

All the more evidence that John Henry is so much better when they let him be Clark’s best friend. They did the “Dillon you son of a bitch” gesture too.

Hank continues to impress with his levels of spite and hate outpacing Reed Richard’s stalker in green over at Marvel.

What do you fags think about using AI art on capeshit comic book art? I literally see no problem, but I think it is wonderful how people against it, use the "real art" at the same time that they consume the sloppiest goyslop to ever slop from a company that would steal even the soul of their own artists if they could.

Barring an increasingly small group, most comic artists are faggots and AI is just another tool that lets people do what they do and do it better.

If them and those “writers” starve, all the better, shouldn’t have fucked around with shit that gives people a bit of joy in a bleak world, takes a sick person to just ruin something cause they can.

I am so jaded on capeshit slop that for me they all can go fuck themselves to hell, I really wish all capeshit would get both writing and artslop so that the real people behind it would either pick a job that doesn't suck or create something original.

I think it is almost offensive to defend writers and artists by consuming a product made by the worst corporations in the creative realm, that fucked their artists for decades. How daft can someone be that "helping the artist" is just making the corpos profit? Just send them some money and pirate the comic, that would be better for them lol.

I am in favor of AI aet because for me it is just another tool, but when it comes to capeshit I just want to see it burnt to the ground: the people who would leave if they went full AI, and the ones who would choose to still read their batman and spider-man because "gotta have their batman" would deserve the sloppiest shit printed to man.

And you could even fool the boomers who loved the "house style" from decades ago by using it as a model (I really hate the in house artstyle since it is the definition of soulless)

Pick Garcia Lopez or George Perez to make boomers the happiest and print another 30 versions of Crisis for the dwindling DC comics reader.

I became someone who was previously a fan and nowadays Just doesn't care just by being beat down in 5 years of reading capeshit weekly, it was almost like they hate their reader and wants them to give up.

I too have gotten hammered, made it home and played with AI

This was what an early one could do, nowadays, those “artists” should be terrified.

it's a tool. in the right hands, it's a great tool.

We still have good artists, like Alex Ross and JRJR. I'm more worried about the writers. Ah hell, can we get an AI to write in the style of good writers?

my issue with comics is that a lot of people that don't respect the medium got into it. look at mariko whatsherface and all the people like her.

it's like they want to be "cool", but then we see "I'm not Starfire" and "Let's make Jon Kent gay" and it all turns to shit. Reminds me of all the people who treated games journalism as a stepping stone and shat it up so bad that we now have 2 gamergates.

Trash.

Yeah shit is bad right now but why make it even worse?

Also, Ed Piskor may have killed himself.

You know... I really dont understand how people to this day says that JRJR art is good, he has a good action paneling but everything else is mid to horrible when he draws children.

1712001477181.png

Sometimes I think it is a american thing that people just don't know the people around the world and the glimpses of what they could do (see miller's ronin in the 80's), as something good when the thing he was inspired (Lone Wolf and cub/similars) are so much better.

And lets assume JRJR strongest point: action. He is still leagues below someone like Akira Toriyama who was amazing at it and even new authors today easily surpassed him, so why people assume he is still good? (Or good to american capeshit standarts)

And even Alex Ross I wouldnt say he is a good comic book artist, I believe he is an excelent illustrator, but not a good comic book artist.

And I can understand how they use capeshit to further their careers, isnt what Rick Remender did it? Why would you give your best to a job that it isnt you who profits the most? Se we always get these middle of the road works and If I was an artist, I sure as hell wouldn't put my best material in it. I can understand why they think it is lesser to them, the only people I see caring about it are the consoomers that love the branding rather than the quality itself. It is the "gotta have my batman" guy that would buy it regardless of how shit it is.

I actually tried to call Ed's number on the note but it went to voice mail.

I don't know why I did that but it just feels wrong to kill yourself over this kind of stuff, people have recovered from worse.
He had sex with a 17 years old girl got canceled and killed himself?

Americans are fucking insane.

From what I've heard, he didn't have sex with her.
That is even worse lol. It is almost like this meme.
1712003631235.png

But what can you expect from a country that allows people to drive at 16 years old and drink at 21 years old? Americans are insane and have their worries all messes up, if the 17 years old girl wanted to suck 76 cocks in a row inside a nursing home for old fucks, let her do it as long she isn't being raped. I really can't understand how mindbogling a teenager of almost adulthood is more shocking to have sex and cause people to choose to die after being caught FUCKING MESSAGING IT, rather than doing it. This very dame person would choose death at their own hands than to live with it.

A society that creates someone like this can't be right in the mind (yeah no shit, no wonders why americans are on drugs all the damn time for most of the population)

It wasn't. It was just heavily leaning on other people's literary works. It's like someone liking Stephen King. I assume they don't know/haven't read Lovecraft, Poe, etc. Far more impressive without King's many flaws.

Sandman riffs, to the point of outright lifting Shakespear, Milton. It's Gaiman's thing. That man literally has built his career by taking a mythological concept and putting it through a twee British lens.

okay, I'll admit that the name just came to mind.

John Byrne and Art Adams are probably closer to "good".

Or anyone that's well-rounded enough to handle art overall without looking like garbage. Ivan Reis? I guess?

Maybe don't use something present day when he's after his prime. Yes Jr.Jr has done solid artwork, with the caveat he's not a rockstar or some wunderkind

Eh, America has a history of INSANELY great art. It's like people wondering why American's don't leave the country...they don't have to.

I'll ignore this shit where we pretend Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Jim Steranko, Neal Adams, etc don't exist. You're shitting on Don Bluth, Walt Disney, and Chuck Avery.

America the giant of sequential animation and artwork.

And lets assume JRJR strongest point: action. He is still leagues below someone like Akira Toriyama who was amazing at it and even new authors today easily surpassed him, so why people assume he is still good? (Or good to american capeshit standarts)

Oh, yay, capeshit. So if JRJR drew stuff without a cape it'd be good? Honestly with this nonsense. Toriyama drew a bunch of guys in fucking cringe onsies but no one bats an eye...but capes....

Toriyama is actually a good comparison with JRJR as his Akira's strength was his panelling and easier design. Now...put him against George Perez (BTFO).

And even Alex Ross I wouldnt say he is a good comic book artist, I believe he is an excelent illustrator, but not a good comic book artist.

Alex...Ross? That's who you point to? Ross has drawn three or four comics. Painted really.

You know, most American's don't read foreign stuff/enjoy foreign stuff because the BEST entertainment for almost a century was made in their country. Some of it even had people in capes...

you know I honestly had a brain fart earlier.

George Perez alone is great.

people who go shit on american art/etc are usually weenies who point at goyslop. This country was a giant once, and could easily be again.
