Alva Noto, an electronic musician and frequent collaborator with Ryuichi Sakamoto the two decades before the latter's death, did a tribute to the Theme of The Sheltering Sky.
Not too successful to be honest, but the music reminds me of Brian Eno's "Sparrowfall", written for an imaginary film.
4 parts that i believe were originally written for a play. While his score for Arrival may be more popular, I can never not listen to this album (however you pronounce it).
