The first model of the PS3 is the best system they made in my eyes. Even with the launch price the complete backwards compatibility with all previous PS systems is the kind of thing that you just don't see from sony anymore.
It also had a bunch of cool weeb autism games that I used to be super jelly over not having.
I don't think it's a joke at this point - I legitimately think they lost the source code for Bloodborne at some point.
It's that easy of a slam dunk, borderline guaranteed money printer, but they haven't broken the glass and brought it to a whole new audience? Either there's a legal clusterfuck surrounding that game, or they've lost the actual code.
It is not going to matter either way, Bloodborne has been playable on PC via ShadPS4 for months now, currently there are a lot of performance and visual enhancement mods available for it and the setup is easy enough not to dissuade anyone who is already comfortable with emulation.
We know for certain that if Sony were to officially port the game to PC it'll bloat the game's code with their antipiracy software, anti-cheat, PSN accounts requirements and always online verification. Sony fucked over the PC port of Marvel Tokon because of how many aggressively invasive layers of shit software are running in the background.
Any PC player that really wanted to play Bloodborne has already done so and in far better optimal conditions than anything Sony would offer.

PS3 was designed to be intentionally obtuse to work with because in Sony's arrogance, they were hoping to make porting to and from the PS3 so difficult and expensive that studios would just release things as PS3 exclusive by default. Then the 360 came out a year earlier than anticipated, so they rushed the PS3 to market so that microsoft didn't get 2 years as the only hd console on the market. In practice, despite the PS3 on paper being more powerful than the 360, it was such a nightmare to work with that PS3 versions of games ended up being notoriously worse in both performance and graphics, so until microsoft retardedly went all-in on kinect and sony started paying off journos to shill cinematic slop late into the gen, it was a more expensive yet functionally weaker console that got less and worse games. An expensive console that sony was still taking MASSIVE losses on every sale, and even more losses when you consider that sony expected to sell a $3-4k sony hd tv with every system. Instead, they helped samsung sell a LOT of $1200 hd tvs.
I am perplexed by people who defend any sort of console these days. I could understand 10-15 years ago, consoles were a preferable decision if you wanted to game on a budget and not really fuck around with a computer. Even retards could understand that.
These days you can pick up a secondhand PC off Facebook Marketplace that’s within the range of a new console. It will perform better than any next gen console with no software restriction and a completely open market to range prices on games. You don't even require a dedicated monitor, you can plug that bitch right into your TV at home. There is no benefit to ever buying a console barring perhaps a Steam Machine if you don’t wanna fuck around with a 30 pound box.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say the "Nintendo doesn't count" people have a point. Nintendo stopped competing with Sony and Microsoft in terms of hardware Post-Gamecube and now occupy their own little space in the gaming market. Genuinely smart decision considering they're the only one not going through the console century of humiliation.
This is also the reason why Sony grew greedy and incompetent. Xbox fucking up the later half of the 360's life and Xbox One and Nintendo pulling out of the console wars meant they had little to no competition. Now they're trying to squeeze as much money as possible from their dwindling userbase.

While probably true, it's still a cope as sony spent nearly half a billion on concord, a game that has had 0 positive reception since trailer 1. 250 million on marathon and will probably spend half a billion on intergalactic.
