Manufacturing alone for the ps6 is already at or over $1000, and sony has stated multiple times in their financials that they don't plan on subsidizing the ps6 or selling it at a loss. Retail cut alone puts that well over $1400, and that doesn't account for things like shipping, R&D, distribution, sales assistance, or the fact that component prices are still increasing in price.

The $1200 is my ballpark guesstimate. Pretty crazy that this thing will cost $1500 or more at launch. And if memory prices keep going up, then I expect it to get to $2000.

Rich assholes will buy it. But will it be enough to turn a profit with $80-$100 games?

The MSRP will be between $1500-$2000, but the actual street price will probably end up being like $3,000 because normal people aren’t going to buy that shit and the majority of people that will buy will be scalpers :story:

The ps6's launch is gonna herald a crime wave as every tyrone in the country rushes to steal enough shit to pawn off to make sure he's not the only nigger in the ghetto without a ps6 for the "new" version of nba2k.

Imagine if Sony were to implement a way to bind consoles to a specific owner or PSN account, meaning that those stolen PS6s would be just paperweights to salvage parts from.
 
1,000+ for a rent-forever iterative console is hilarious. Haven't bought sony shit since PS3, and I don't see myself ever doing so again with that semitism. Just buy a PC, then you get everything ever published on a PS system up to what? This gen? Since PS5 is getting cracked open. The amount of system sellers absolutely died with the PS4, and PS3 didn't have many either.

It's already been a thing for smartphones for forever; if a phone gets jacked the store/owner just reports the IMEI to the manufacturer/carrier and it gets bricked. With the current consoles already into luxury phone pricing, it'd be stupid for Sony to not have the same system.

I think it'll do a reverse-PS3: Launch batch will sell out immediately (not even because of scalpers) but it will drop off hard after that. Kind of like the Switch 2 appears to be doing because it likewise offers nothing to encourage people who loved their Switch to upgrade.

You've gotta stop listening to grifters with ai-generated scripts. The switch 2 just sold nearly 4 million in a random, fuckass, usually dead quarter of the year without any huge releases that would make this quarter in specific an outlier. And, regardless of quality (or more likely, the lack thereof), it's getting mainline pokemon next year. Again, this isn't anything to do with whether or not the switch 2 is worth buying, but the objective fact of whether or not it's continuing to sell well or if it's dropping off a cliff.
