In some degree of fairness, that's all it really needed to be. Nintendo does as Nintendo wants is memetic, but the Switch as a hybrid console is arguably the best we're going to have unless Valve can get a sweetheart deal on Steam Deck manufacturing and undercut the shit out of Nintendo.
Nintendo sells their consoles for profit, unlike Sony and MicroSoft, that subsidized them heavily. The Switch 2 strategy is nothing new for Nintedo, they stuck with what works when going from the NES to the SNES, and from the NDS to the 3DS (albeit less successfully with that one).

PS3 had good games by 2010 and ps1 compatibility even when ps2 was cut. Also free online, no bullshit subscription.

My response, as pessimistic as it may be, to that and the issue of Steam 100%, no doubt in my mind, starting to suck dog shit as soon as Gabe dies is that that’s far enough away that gaming sucking will not be a top concern for me (i.e., the economy/western society completely imploding will be a just a tad bit more important).
