It’s amazing how many people still don’t know that Steam does have a DRM-free option and it’s entirely up to the publisher. Even some of Valve’s own games are DRM-free.
Kindof a lot are just steamapi.dll drm as well which you can disable by simply dropping any of the many hacked steamapi dlls available into the game folder and it will launch no problem

Suddenly Nintendo's game key cards, where you can sell, trade or borrow games easily doesn't seem like such a terrible idea in comparison to an all digital world where you own literally nothing, and thus cannot sell, trade, or borrow games easily.
...until they also decide to restrict installs to 1) the first console you installed it on, 2) (if they're feeling generous) the next one you transferred it to after the first one was lost/damaged/destroyed and had to be replaced, 3) only one install on one console forever and fuck you if you ask for more.
They are closely watching the consumer's reactions to this change. If they can possibly get away will killing third-party sales of key cards by restricting installs to "first-used console only," they will, guaranteed.

They actively and aggressively hate their customers. You can see it in every facet of their actions, words and products. Their games are made by people who hate their audiences, and openly relished complaints about the bullshit they've put in recent games (TLOU2, for example -- they fucking loved all the angry howling at Joel's death and Abby's escape at Ellie's hands). Their policies are as anti-consumer as you can get without literally sending goons door-to-door to vacuum out everyone's pockets. Their business practices are nonsensical and antithetical to encouraging customers to actually buy their products. A bit up-thread someone posited maybe they're intentionally sabotaging the company/brand to score a bailout, and I'm beginning to agree.
The latest news of them getting rid of customer’s purchases and ownership feels like they are getting that bad news out of the way rather than string it out over the next few months.
The entire point of a console is that it’s a streamlined affordable ecosystem, and games are largely optimized for the specified hardware. And the option of choice; you buy a physical copy so you can sell it when you want; or if your friend wants to borrow a video game, you can lend it to him/her. Why spend $1000 dollars on a disc less PlayStation when you can build a PC by that point?
Now? Sony has set the standard that physical media is obsolete, and Xbox will also follow shortly after. It’s just a big middle finger to the gamer and total anti consumer. But who am I kidding, what has Sony ever been pro-consumer? Maybe once upon a time in the 1980s-mid 2000s when they actually produced quality hardware like the first two PlayStations, Sony Walkmans, and Trinitron CRTs. Today, Sony is not only failing with PlayStation, but they’re failing in television manufacturing (the Chinese TCL are making their sets), and their AFEELA EV car brand flopped hard after Honda pulled out of the project.
