I've had my PS2 since the mid 2000's and have NEVER had this issue happen to me, ever. And I played every possible genre of games that was available for the PS2 from puzzle to platformer to racer, to fighter, and to music game.
That's not even the PS2 doing that. It would be isolated to the game with how it handles memory.

I actually told them they were fucking retarded and probably pulling it out/shutting the game off while it was saving and they got all pissbaby about it.
I've seen people do that for whatever reason. That and eject the disc while the PS2 is reading it.

I've had that happen with modern hardware. I did as a kid though buy a memory card from Best Buy that after a couple of days nuked the controller port in my PS1. The PS1 I got from Gamestop, took it back in and didn't say anything about the card being from Best Buy and they swapped out my PS1. I think I still have the memory card somewhere too. The N64 if you seated it wrong it would say something like "repair pack" like modern SD cards. But instead of repairing it would just delete everything, major bummer that. Haven't ran into that PS2 shit, but I did discover a weird thing with the GameCube in that if you try to save a game that isnt the same region as your memory card it will corrupt it and the new save will be unusable. You can actually recover the old saves though and man is that a funky process.

Back to modern times FUCK the FxPakPro

The only PS2 game I remember causing corrupt save data on memory cards was Soul Calibur 3 but because at the time it came out I checked out of 3D fighting games I cannot vouch for the truth in this statement.
I have never, in my whole life, heard anyone say anything positive about current gen consoles such as the gamelesstation 5, or it being vastly superior to the PS2 era. In fact if I ever did hear someone say positive things I would assume I was talking to an "aayyyy lmao" tier alien invader.

Imagine paying 20 bucks to eat shitty ranch slathered pizza while watching the ugliest version of Jean Grey ever imagined. And I guarantee there's gonna be a dozen retards using those pretzel sticks as Wolverinee claws, journos have never been bigger cucks. :story:

In a recent data deep dive, it was explained that, between FY2020 and FY2024, PlayStation’s first-party software sales plummeted by 30 million copies.
FY2018: 54.1 million sales
FY2019: 49.2 million sales
FY2020: 58.4 million sales
FY2021: 43.9 million sales
FY2022: 43.5 million sales
FY2023: 39.7 million sales
FY2024: 28.9 million sales
FY2025: 32.1 million sales

So if you make no games for your console and you throw what you have did onto PC... you make less money because nobody will want to buy your console then, who would've thunk, because there's no way Marathon or Fairgames or the Horizon MMO can save this, The people running the Playstation brand are the dumbest people capable of running it (into the ground)

So the games they've actually had made for the ps5, and not just ports or remakes
Astrobot, Ghost of Yotei, Ratchet and Clank, Spiderman 2, Marathon. For a console that's been out for five and a half years now?

Maybe if they actually had a fucking product to sell instead of needing to cancel a half dozen live service slop games, they'd be selling games? Everything else, God of War, The Last of Us, Horizon, it's all been ports and remakes of shit that was on PS4 or even PS3 at this point. If you don't have a product, consumers aren't going to fucking buy anything.

R&C and Spidernigger2 both got pc ports, and Maratroon was a day 1 pc release.
Yes, but I mean games at least not on ps3 and ps4. The 5th remake of the last of us doesn't count for shit since there's going to be a dwindling number of people willing to re-purchase things for the 5th time. It doesn't matter if the games are available on PC, since there's nothing to fucking buy and we're talking about their software sales. The fact that those games are available on PC is probably the only reason those numbers are as high as they are.

edit: You can even compare Sony's retardation with Sega and their previous focus on live service bullshit
Apparently Sega finally figured out that if they want to make money selling videogames, that they need to actually make videogames instead of just having a handful of live service slop games perpetually in development. With the effort being described as "putting their eggs all into the basket of premium non bullshit games".

Sega has both Atlus and RGG so they actually have some premium Japanese studios under their umbrella.

Wtf does Sony have?

Bend, Santa Monica, Guerilla Games, Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Polyphony Digital, Suckerpunch, Bungie

The problem is that these are the studios that made Sly Cooper, Uncharted, Jak and Daxter, Gran Turismo, Spyro, Killzone, etc. but they don't do anything with those IPs because apparently all Sony wants is more Last of Us and liveservice slop leading to damn near everyone who was worth a shit at those studios to leave ages ago.

Uh, you forgot that Spyro was never owned by Sony in the exact the same way Crash wasn't where it was truely owned by a seperate company and those IP's respective devs only responsible for the inital games that eventually got moved to other companies (and the studios they hired to make games) and finally activison and subsequently microsoft.

Then you have cases like Jak or Sly where they ethier tried to early on post PS2 only to give up because they knew it wasn't going to work out no matter what ideas they had (See Jak 4), or simply more important projects taking priority. Or in the case of Sly, the studio doesn't even want to make a new game short of a small handful of people there, which was also why Sly 4 ended up the way it did because of a seperate studio handling it and why there was no game after it given that game did not succeed financially.

And then many other properties did end up ethier getting one-off games on PS5 (LBP, Astro Bot if you don't count the pack in game), or maybe one or two sequels and not much else (R&C, GoW, Grand Turismo, etc) on PS5, and ,Sony under Hulman Hust and Jim Ryan was too fucsed on Live Services and made a lot of thier studios do that instead, and it's definitely not a Capcom or even Nintendo situation where thier dev studios were already assigned to specific IPs and made to commit to them almost purely so the more obscure IPs would get lost in the shuffl if they wern't deemed successful enough to warrent more games from (I.e the dev studio behind the recent Resident Evil titles isn't assigned to make a Dino Crisis game given how Dino Crisis 3 wasn't a success and that IP as a whole became ignored in favor of RE for example).
