The only selling point Sony had for me was a near exclusive right to JRPGs that mattered and for the life of me I can't even think of any in current day. They could have also done an insanely obvious move and catered to weebs with visual novel but they fucked even that up. The Switch has nearly all of them for the console market because Sony is so ass-backwards with censorship. I never thought I'd see the day where Nintendo was more lax on censorship than Sony but hey, their execs seem focused on atomic piledriving the company into the ground because half of them still think their products should be home theater systems and not for videogames.
Deepest feels. I still can't get over the fact they literally evicerated their in house development studio. Wild ARMs, Popolocris, Arc the Lad, all a part of a JRPG focus project that fucking blew even Squarsoft out of the water in terms of success, in the late 1990s no less, and they up and shit on this legacy and its successors with its focus on the normalfags.

Sony is STILL upset at this MS acquisition. Evidently, I'm seeing several news reports of MS "wanting to add" Game Pass to PlayStation, Sony said no.

Sony is being extremely historic. CoD would STILL be on PlayStation with this acquisition. Put that energy into your exclusives.

So let me get this straight:

Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard.
Sony complains that they are losing Call of Duty.
Microsoft agrees they'll keep putting out COD on PS systems for a few more years.
Sony complains that Call of Duty will be free on Game Pass and they can't compete.
Microsoft offers to put Game Pass on PlayStation.
Sony: no.

Sony ponies LOVE the drama.

You can never have this back.

As someone that mostly grew up in the 2000’s, this kind of thing remains important to me, and I also was a Sega Dreamcast fan at the time.

I did not know that PS1 composite and power cables worked for the PS2.

You can tell this is the millennium with the bulky TV, CD/DVD playback, 90s era hairstyle, and SD but clear quality video.

I miss those days when you could just pop a game into the console and immediately start playing.

Not to ruin the vibe, but did PS2s back then NOT come with memory cards? How did you get by like that?

I know the Xbox 360 had SKUs with no hard drives or very limited memory.

Sure. Power is just a standard 2 pin power cable, maybe most commonly seen used in radios and tape decks and you can reuse the one from the PS1 to power the PSX. Or use the one from grandmas radio. The AV output port has of course changed over the years but I'm pretty sure PS1 and PS2 had the exact same port.

No, they did not, and guess what? There weren't enough memory cards to go around at launch. Good times.

The power cable also works on the PS3. Probably the PS4 as well. PS2s didn't come with memory cards. If you couldn't afford a memory card, tough luck. Playing Harvest Moon Save the Homeland without one was not fun.

Sony makes it easier to get a PS5 in time for Amazon Prime Day

The kicker: The new standard RRP for a PS5 disc console is priced at $499.99 / £479.99 / AU$799.95, while a PS5 digital console now costs $399.99 / £389.99 / AU$649.95. Sony increased the RRP of the device last month due to "challenging economic conditions".

Wew, lad. The PS5 will be more widely available soon, but no one will be able to afford it. Sony-ponies just can't win.

It's like Sony hasn't learned from the PS3.

"You were paying more than that to scalp it anyways!" --- Sony (probably)

It's like Sony hasn't learned from the PS3.
Nah, Sony were just 15 years too early. I think people are legit dumber and will pay anything cause of brand loyalty.

Imagine not sticking with Sony after the PS2 with all of the amazing exclusive titles it had, and then sticking with Sony with the PS5 after nothing but linear shitty movie games and cross generational garbage.

Gamers are fucking retarded.

These are called Figure-8 cables. They power tons and tons of stuff that can either handle alternating current (things that aren't computers), or have a built-in AC adapter.
  • Dreamcast, Original Xbox, Xbox Series X & S, PS1, PS2 Fat, PS3 Slim & Super Slim, PS4, and PS5 all have built-in PSUs, which is why they have no giant box on their plugs, nor on their cables
  • PS2 Slim, as well as every model of both PSP and Vita have AC adapter boxes you plug your figure-8 cable into
  • PS3 Fat, Xbox 360, and Xbox One use kettle plugs, just like any desktop PC and a lot of laptops:

The cables themselves are generic and interchangeable, the AC adapters are not. Sometimes figure-8 cables are keyed because they're polarized, which is why some have a square-shaped end:

Back in 2017, I remember the YouTuber Taki Udon used to show videos about this PS2 Portable that was on AliExpress, and to see five years later more people making videos about this is nice and funny at the same time.

If I’m not able to get a Valve Steam Deck, I’m genuinely this close to buying one just for convenience sake. This one doesn’t look too bad as one would think, though I’m aware that this is just my unpopular opinion.

I grew up with the GameGear... bulky handhelds aren't a big deal to me, especially since I'm constantly playing mario Kart 8 on my WiiU with that giant pad in my bedroom across from my man cave

I'm with you on maybe getting this. I've been doing deliveries as a part time job and playing DDR/Fighting/Puzzle/Platform PS2 games during the down time sounds really appealing, specially since PCSX2 can't handle 3d platformers on my potato PC.
