As far as I can tell the PS5 is just like the PS4: lots of people buy it for one game hoping that plenty more will come out and by the end they're disappointed.

one game
Be careful people said the same thing about the PS3 and when they were going to pull the plug suddenly all these irreplaceable games came out of hiding after 13 years. As far as I can tell the PS5 is just like the PS4: lots of people buy it for one game hoping that plenty more will come out and by the end they're disappointed.
To be fair, a bunch of stuff got pushed back due to Corona, Horizon was supposed to be out by next month originally and God of War Ragnarok was to follow.worst part with the indie stuff is things like steam's next fest shit all over it, not only are there MORE games, they're also better presented etc.
which brings up another issue, who would wanna buy a scalped ps5 for fucking indie games? sure, you can use them as filler, but you have to throw in some meat every once in a while, and no matter what people think about SO, that's also a mulitplat, which again begs the question why the fuck should I buy a playstation console?
it's like they looked at microsoft's strategy from last gen and said "yep, that's how we wanna drive our brand against the wall, except even more gay". however ms has much deeper pockets for shenanigans like gamepass and coming from pc is also much closer to mustards. that's why the this new MUH BLOCKBUSTER scheme is so utterly exceptional, even stuff like days gone 2 would give people a reason to buy a playstation. ffs with the drought of notable games and sony games in particular it would probably fare even better under these circumstances. not to mention the rising popularity of weeb media they could milk since that was always xbone's bigger blindspot. who needs japan studio anyway...
Only if Marissa Moria gets quarantined in it instead of using this thread to cry in.
Nah they are just returning to their rootsI wonder if they're considering shuttering their console division after PS5 or something. The "Playstation PC" brand sounds like a line of gaming computers more so than a label for their ports. Or maybe it is just a label and I'm overeager for them to eat shit.

They will probably do their own Game Pass.I wonder if they're considering shuttering their console division after PS5 or something. You'd be crazy if you think they're abandoning consoles. Giving sales up to steam to that extent would be retarded.Anyone working on game streaming is planning to abandon their consoles I'm pretty sure.
I mean, Sony will probably still sell a Playstation box to stream games that will be marketed to the few remaining diehard fanboys, but that's it.
Microsoft will be going the same direction.
They really did good all in one PC's, good multimedia centers, terrible gaming rigs unless you tinker itThey better start offering colors this time then.
Yessn't they are using this to bypass China regulations, if they put their games on Steam they dont have to deal with all the bullshit of putting 1 game in a console when is more expedite to just put it on there that is free reign that is not blocked on thereThis whole thing with the PC ports is meant to get people from outside America to buy a playstation since they're already invested in a series that was ported to other platforms
I doubt the Chinese regulations have that much influence considering they've sold out their Chinese PS5 stock. They really did good all in one PC's, good multimedia centers, terrible gaming rigs unless you tinker it

Sony is just putting content on steam to tell tencent to shove it,

Looks like Sony is playing catch up with Microsoft with their game accessibility. Either way, this is consumer friendly. More people will get to experience PlayStation exclusives in untapped potential. Consoles aren't (rather, shouldn't be) competing with PCs.
Selling hardware is easy, selling software not so much, chinese bros can get their PS5 but have to wait millenia for a game to be a approved so if the joke of PS5 HAS NO GAEMS is hard on the west is infinitely more worse in china, they mostly import their games because their store is super neuteredI doubt the Chinese regulations have that much influence considering they've sold out their Chinese PS5 stock.
I think this is their answer for game pass, is to late to retool Playstation plus so this is the compromise that can be achieved to try to annoy sexbox in their own turfLooks like Sony is playing catch up with Microsoft with their game accessibility. Streaming services even within the next 10 years for games won't work in a ton of areas due to massive data usage. The infrastructure isn't there and not only that the companies themselves throttle data usage like Comcast.Sony wouldn't be putting their games on Steam once they have a steady streaming service available.
I'm just saying, it's going to happen sooner than you think. Possibly next gen, definitely gen after that. They might still sell a Playstation "system" but the streaming service will be the bread and butter, which won't require selling a console they lose money on.
PC's stopped being a ground for game innovation awhile ago, even before the Xbox360 and PS3. It's why companies like Blizzard just banked on Warcraft and only Warcraft for so long. Hell it's why Valve isn't digging that deep into IP creation because they wanted to coast on e-sports.Consoles aren't (rather, shouldn't be) competing with PCs.
You're also surrendering even owning the software in any form at that point.
Not really no, the most in demand version of the PS5 is the one with the disc drive. That's what they want though. I'm not saying it's cool or I want it, but that's the way the winds are blowing.

The Digital Only one has mostly sold out of necessity in more instances and they're the ones that turn up used way more frequently.
