Atlus don't really release too many games on Steam compared to the other platforms they're more well known for, but just like with Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5 strikers and the Shin Megami Tensei III Remaster, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't, it's another avenue for them to make money with a FAR FAR larger market of customers on Steam compared to the Microsoft store.
I think Gamepass stuff is it's own type of exclusivity deal because they made an announcement with Square when Final Fantasy got ported there, I'm pretty sure developers get money for allowing their games on gamepass. There's probably different clauses and other stuff of what may or may not be allowed.

How is it an exclusive deal when Persona can be bought on other platforms?

It would only be console launch exclusivity, and more than likely timed exclusivity, because P4G P3P aren't on PS4/5 while Switch has neither of the 3. Atlus will port these after the timed exclusivity, which is in the more than likely case, but that's up to them because where are the Switch editions if Xbox gets them first after all this time? It also might be the situation where it only showed Xbox during the reveal trailer and we'll get more information on other platform availability.

It looks like it's only gamepass on console, in which they will probably give you a option to buy it. Like all other games on gamepass
Yeah but it's digital only.

Which is strange for Atlus because they tend to go all out with special editions because they know their audience will purchase it. The Soul hackers 2 collectors edition is around $200 USD.

I don't care that xbox is getting persona now, if anything the whole concept is played out and its "fan"base is one of the most putrid, radioactive cesspools on the internet. What rustles my feathers is that SMT proper is locked on switch, the vasectomy soylent platform.

SMTV appeared on the nvidia leaks as being multiplatform.

I'd just say wait it out. I'm more looking forward to the chaos that the buyouts are going to bring. It's going to be like sports teams trading players in the end.

Atlus has been reliant on the majority of it's sales in western countries since around 2016. Sega and it's subsidiaries in general are for the majority reliant on the west.

I know you push the /pol version of Japanese Nationalism but when it comes to JRPGs they've been bought by the majority by western countries since the late 90's.
This is just flat out untrue, especially since the PS3 era. People had to actively campaign to get the three project rainfall games and even then it looked uncertain for a long time.

Nope even during that era they were being mostly bought by western countries it's just that a lot of RPGs on the PS3 were not that good. You had Capcom make stuff like Dragon's Dogma specifically for western markets because they feared that MH wouldn't sell. This really ramped up during the PS4 when you had titles like Monster Hunter break through the western market and sell more than they've done in their series sales by a huge margin.

You have Square who routinely delivers games for the western market, so much so even Dragon Quest 12 is going through some changes to ingrain it more in western markets.

The entire souls series being popular is entirely due to the west as well. The original Demon's Souls was not that popular in japan and Dark Souls did not fare any better. This is an entire Japanese game series that's supported almost entirely by the west even up to Elden Ring.

This gets into some of the reasons why they've been targeting the west just in general. America is the largest console market and access to it has been vitally important for keeping these series afloat.

They pay companies to put their shit on gamepass, I don't see how that negates what I said.

oh if you meant the timed exclusivity

A press release shared with Eurogamer states: "These beloved games will also be heading to Steam and PlayStation 5". However, without a release date, this could be a timed exclusive for Xbox and PC.

There's also no mention of it coming to sony's upper tiers of their subscription service. Xbox is the only one who has them coming to their subscription service.

I'm not really sure if there wouldn't be people who wouldn't want to deal with anti-piracy measures. One of the things with Primal Rage being a tough game to get around and emulate properly was not the anti-piracy measures in total. It was that not enough people wanted to work on doing something like that, but other games had similar anti-piracy measures but since they were more popular you had more bodies to throw at a project like that.
Ok, let's say that someone has the Primal Rage cabinet and ALL the operations manuals. That guy scans the manuals, very carefully, don't want them newton rings when scanning paper, then puts it on the internet. Mission accomplished! Game is perfectly archived?
What about the game itself? Wouldn't part of it be dumping the rom and putting on the internet? That's how people figure out how to emulate it even if it takes time for them to get around to it, isn't that an important part of preserving a game?

Same with every other game. I don't give a fuck if there's some dude with a Powerstone manual in perfect condition, I want to PLAY Powerstone. Or Fantasy General, or Moonstone, or Housemarque's first game and so on. It's called game preservation, not spine-of-the-box preservation, and piracy is how it's done.

I had low expectations with the PS1/PSP games but Sony found a way to be worse than I thought they could be. I expected a good 20+o PS1 games to start, but Sony has around 10 with two of them being Worms games, thankfully they all seem to be NTSC versions if you live in America.

PSP they only have one game, have to ask what was the point of that rather than waiting until you have more ready. Waiting least would stop people talking about how pitiful it is.

Emu outside that now seems fine but sadly not close to Duckstation but it was unlikely they would ever have came close to many of the features that emu has, but do still hope Sony can fix the game selection sooner rather than later.

Yes, the same Western market that was completely in love with the 360, Gears, and Call of Duty. The same market that was constantly criticising Japan as not being able to cut it any more.

This was in fact the time that Play-Asia started because people were noticing that Japanese games were getting more releases in Japan only/Asia only and not in North America, fucktard.

You are full of shit and have no idea what you're talking about. Square is not changing Dragon Quest to appeal to Western markets. DQ11 was a massive success and the biggest title of the series in the West since DQ8. And they kept they formula.

You are a fucking retard who has no idea what they're talking about, makes shit up on the fly and can prove absolutely nothing of what you're talking about. You make DSP look normal. Fuck off.

We'll have to wait and see, because there hasn't been any mention of steam. They mention Windows and there isn't anything up that has mentioned a Steam release.
Did you actually watch Xbox's game conference? Literally every single game shown is coming to Steam, with Steam's name and trademark shown every time they showed what consoles the games were coming to.

Besides what games have actually stayed on the pc gamepass as an exclusive/timed exclusive? I cant think of a single game that didn't launch the same day on gamepass without it also coming out on other storefronts
