Much like my coincidental comparison with Elder Scrolls Arena, who the fuck's played Sonic Spinball? I heard that the FF got removed from the Origins version.
Isn't the game not evenoin origins? or is the origins version the gamegear one? that one doesn't have the cameo iirc. Or am I misremembering something here?

I have. It's decent, but the controls are a bit wonky. I remember beating it once. The option menu music is the most headache-inducing thing that's ever hit my ears. Toxic Caves is the ONLY catchy tune in the entire game, and it's no wonder it was the only song that was added in Sonic Generations.

Wrong. The whole fucking soundtrack is like that, even the earrape guitar midi options menu once your ears survive the initial blow since it's technically the same as the one used in every other stage track.
For some reason the final stage theme came back into my head a few weeks ago and won't fully leave. I don't even think I ever made it that far in the actual game!
IIRC the track I remember everyone that's talked about the game being the best was the "the machine". Personally iwouldn't consider that the best but I see why people I've witnessed talking about the game have said that over the years.

EDIT: I somehow either forgot or completely missed the trivia that there was an early pre-release version of the game that did a kinda ear rapey version of the standard sonic opening music. Apparently some actually released copies had this kind of like how there's some copies of OOT with blood instead of green vomit and islamic chanting in the fire temple. Kind of relevant to the music legal talk in this thread because it was changed last minute because THE DEVS FOUND OUT SEGA DOESN'T OWN THE SONIC THEME.

Wow, the replacement song was actually better than this botched version of the Sonic 1 theme.

Wouldn't exactly call it "botched" considering I can see what they were trying to do having played a number of pinball machines back in the day. It'sust a more funkier version of the title theme with the screechy fucking midi guitar. The replacement theme weirdly fits the title screen much better despite it being a last minute afterthought.

There's an extended version of the spinball theme from an official album that infamously played during the macy's day parade incident, something I somehow keep forgetting. Might have brought this up before earlier in the thread but without that lore to it.

EDIT: Speaking of shit I probably brought up before after finding out about, this song.

Actually all of the song (because there was only one theme that played in all the levels) sound like nails on a chalkboard, I also played the game on a GBA if that matters

I don't really recall much of Spinball other than that the Game Gear version was from my experience a very framerate-choppy mess with the hit detection being all over the place, and that the ear-rape hit-noise from Toxic Caves' scorpion boss on the Genesis/Mega Drive version still haunt me to this very day.

Speaking of Game Gear titles, I did actually like Tails' Skypatrol. Sure it's short as hell but it mostly actually works with the Game Gear's screen crunch limitations and is short enough to play it on the go.

If you actually looked at the posts beforehand you'd know that very much matters. There's a whole ass soundtrack and the soundfont'snowhere near as fucked as the GBA port on the original. I forgot there was a gba port and I'm glad I never even touched that shit. Guess it's up there with the sonic 1 GBA port in terms of dogshittery looking at that footage. Never thought I'd see something worse than the gamegear port of spinball but holy fucking shit man I stand corrected.
EDIT: Here's a good example showcasing howmuch smoother and not shit the original genesis version is
EDITx2: Holy shit the gba port doesn't even have the boss theme? jesus christ.

Why is Sonic Spinball everywhere?

Have I gone back to Hell again?
MORE SPINBALL! MORE SPINBALL!

Who hasn't? It's usually on collections and was released during peak Sonic hype. It's not the worst, I was kinda into it, but it's just way too hard.

Tails' Adventure was pretty damn good too, all things considered. I'd like to see a sequel.

It's kind of like battletoads where it's one of those games that will kick your fucking ass if you don't know what you're doing after the first stage, and even might fuck your shit up if you hit stuff wrong when you know what you're doing. There's a lot more games like that but in terms of weird difficulty and being built pretty well mechanically that's one of the comparisons that comes to mind.
Also agree ont he tails adventure thing, but I just realized I never got around to completing that game back in the day when it was released on the various game collections on shit like gamecube.

Well, part of the problem is I just suck at pinball games generally, I feel like I'm in zero control of the ball, but others seem to have the math down and can get better results, so it's probably a legit skill issue.

As for Tails' Adventure, I never finished it either. Got sticker after (or during?) an underwater part and just never got around to finishing it. I still consider it good anyway.
