Regarding the whole "Live and Learn" lawsuit thing, fuck, that explains why Gioeli hasn't shown up to any Sonic Symphony shows recently. I'm pretty firmly on the side of "both sides are retarded", though–on the one hand it's yet another sign of Sega's infamous shortsightedness, in this case in securing the rights to that song. The same shortsightedness that cost them the ownership of at least 1/4 of the S3&K soundtrack. Yet at the same time, Gioeli seriously didn't know until now it was being used outside of SA2? "Live and Learn", the modern Sonic song by many people's estimation? X.

I smell opportunism here. As fun as it is to call him a retard, there is no way he wasn't aware if it. No one is so stupid that something like this goes unnoticed for over 20 years. I'm betting there's an ulterior motive. Sucks too, because I don't think Gioeli is going to get a lot of sympathy from Sonic fans with this stunt.

That's my guess too, he probably got paid a pretty penny for its use in the movie and went "wait a minute, I could've been getting a paycheck every time those notes were farted out?" He definitely knew he could've negotiated for royalties but he probably thought it'd be a pittance and that he shouldnt rock the boat in case Masta Sega comes a-knocking for getting him on another song. So this was a wakeup call for HOW valuable his music is to the franchise identity
 
I have never and would never listen to his podcast but I have always assumed by osmosis it was just about sonic? what else does he talk about? i thought that show's entire existence was autists asking THE official sonic autist stupid questions. I don't necessarily think his fan base would bother listening to him just talk about something else.

That's also an odd situation since the updates were rough in some places and not in others. This shot (which I took from google to be clear) shows that Amy still likes Sonic, she's just not aggro about it to the same degree. Top is original, bottom is new.

Or it could be because the two movies combined have made almost a billion dollars at the box office, and this one is on track to meet, if not exceed them? If I were SEGA, I'd be confident in greenlighting a fourth one too.

IDW getting Penders'd is not on my bingo card, but would be funny to see unless Sega makes them change the dialouge instead.
 
The problem with Amy is there's a big Sally-shaped elephant in the room. Sally was The GirlTM so if she still existed in the franchise all the generic traits they give girl characters could go on her and they could let Amy Rose have her unique personality that makes her actually memorable. However Sally cant be used so all those traits that girl characters need in media in order to be role models to toy-buyers- I mean little girls, have to be put onto The Girl character of whatever piece of media has an ensemble. Peach got that treatment, Amy will. Ironically wokeness is what's causing this but if the games were like ten percent more woke and had other women who could sponge up these generic hacky writing tropes we could have actual faithful adaptions and not just The Girl archetype used in team stories

Not to mention the streaming show (mid as it was overall) and the possibility of more of those.

You guys remember that the current writers on the english side are the ones that grew up during the time Amy was known as an obnoxious Sonic fangirl right? Even if she had good moments, that's what permeated the fandom, to the point you'll see very few people that say the current amy is bad, at worst boring maybe, but not bad. The gag became all consuming to the fandom and this is just a very big and bland overcorrection

I only put serious time into the Vita version, but it was incredible, the only better kart racer is Mario Kart DS, maybe Double Dash but that might be nostalgia talking.

Space and time? I'm actually kinda hyped, especially about the time bit. Time travel shenanigans might be a blast in multiplayer, sounds complicated though.

Cute doesn't necessarily mean sexually attractive, which is obviously not what they're going for there. Plus isn't she younger than Sonic normally? That probably puts them closer to the same age range, if anything.

I've seen someone bring up the theory that it might include the movie side of the franchise. The games had giant warp rings too, but the one in the trailer looks almost 1:1 with how they look in the films.
