Maybe the mandates are being slowly, quietly lifted? Just a theory of course, but SEGA's been back-backtracking on a lot of continuity and canon. We're back to having one world, Classic Sonic from Gens is back to being just younger Sonic, among other things. It's absolutely wishful thinking, but I wonder if the movies having their own take on the characters and universe has gotten SEGA to reconsider some of the guidelines put in place.

Reminds me of how nintendo's been doing similar stuff with mario the last few years.

Nintendo's been gradually going back on the shit from the late wii-Wii U era of "Oh he's not actually a plumber oh he was never from new york guys it was always the mushroom kingdom guys ignore literally everything before he's still going through pipes and using plumbing tools though" to calling him a plumber again and changing stuff with odyssey where he's now from NEW DONK CITY which is "technically not NYC" but the Chrysler building is there front and center in several cutscenes. Originally his premiere game, Donkey kong, took place in NYC. He was a carpenter in that one, not a plumber, but he's been a plumber since the mario bros. arcade game that's plot flows into the first Super Mario bros. New Donk City in Odyssey now where Donkey Kong took place canonically, which kind of implies post DK event they changed the name of the city which is really fucking funny to me.

The Mario lore getting fucked with constantly (see: Toad's hat) is always very funny and obnoxiously bullshit to see occur.

As long as they don't make Knuckles a dumbass anymore, I'm good.

Only time I saw dumbass knuckles done good is where he's "dumb" in some ways but freaky smart when certain specific things are happening that'd make it incredibly funny for him to show he's not actually retarded. That only really happened in the tie-in show to the failed shitty sonic naughty dog reboot. Guy's just trolling everyone and/or weird.

Seems like we finally got confirmation for the length of Shadow's story in the Generations remaster.

Does that include playing the extra stuff? Because the O.G. Generations had time challenges and races against other characters and other missions and unlockables. Should we expect that from Shadow as well or are we just getting the bare-bones main story?

I thought they should have just used Big Ape City (Donkey Kong Land) or Big City (Donkey Kong '94). I guess I get why they wouldn't use the latter since it has a boring, generic name, but still.

I went and got some of those little eggman logo pod blind boxes that were put out to promote the sonic netflix show I have never nor really have any major urge to watch. Got pretty basic figures but they're decent sculpt wise as shittily as they're painted, save for tails who for some reason has the most absurdly shit sculpt for flying I have ever seen. I also know from whatI've seen of other merch of this shit tails is supposed to have like doc ock arms coming out of his ass or some shit which this one doesn't despite having the edgelord outfit. Can't find any stock images so i'll have to take photos later.

Careful if you get these, noticed the way they're wrapped literally caused the logo on one of the sides to be horribly damaged by me pulling it off because the shrink wrap seal thing just fused to the side of the orange egg. The figures are like quarter machine quality it's clear most of the budget for these things went into the actual containers they're packed in. Each one seems to come with a mini poster sticker thing and some kind of rubber keychain charm. Might get more to try and customize into more presentable minis sometime. The egg pod things also might make good fodder for some projects I've been working on, as well as just weird little desk storage trays for paperclips or some shit. there's 8 figures and 8 pods per case which tells me it might be one of THOSE blind boxes. I could have gotten a full case if I had money they had one there but I chose not to blow like 40 dollars on useless shit that despite selling for like 20 on ebay is apparently common enough and not really in demand enough to be gone a week after i first saw them in a few stores.

it's funny because he has sculpted tails beneath it too but they arent' sculpted in like the way they'd be if he was flying. I think that adds to it on top of the donut and lack of white.

All they really had to do to make look like tails was flying is just have two 90 degree tailed sticking out of his ass and him floating (could’ve even had a gear gimmick where you push on his head to make the section the tails are attached to spin. The donut looking thing looks like excessive half assed idea that wasn’t even great to begin with.

Edit: realized it’s moreso on purpose because that “version” of tails is spupposed to have 9 mechanical instead of just 2. Still stupid and lazy.

Reminds me more of quarter machine toys more than mcdonalds toys. It's clearly going for a capsule machine thing despite there being no actual machine that would fit the things. They're literally called "chaos capsules" and they're actually just a small amount more expensive than the fucking sonic gachaball things you see sometimes. Those things are sometimes in capsule machines but mostly I've just seen them in cardboard box dispensers the last few years. They keep repacking those things and I've never seen anyone buying them because they are absolute ass compared to anything else in that genre.
You know the ones that look like on par with fucking bootlegs.

These always pissed me off a bit because the same company made a lot of really cool small useless figures that keep getting occasionally reissued like the zelda ones. I got the four swords zelda figures used from some event a few years ago after trying to get them for a decent price for years and then last year or so I just fucking saw them as blind box capsules at a five below meaning they got reissued at some point and I missed it.

This rambling just got me thinking again about quarter/capsule machine shit again. Stuff used to be like 25 to 50 cents sometimes for shit people charge on ebay for 20-50 now, and the stuff that's shittier quality is more expensive to the point it's priced like the stuff that used to be blind boxed. Where the fuck did we go so wrong?

Also why the fuck did they never make figures based on the tiny SEGA figures in this game? That's like the most obvious fucking thing to do merch wise yet they never did it.

EDIT: Tried cleaning up the weird phrasings a bit, why the fuck do I only ever get this kind of hyper aware thinking about goofy shit when I'm too out of it to get it into proper, not repetitive words? Madness.

"the fortnite dance" is an actual dance that existed before fortnite. Much like almost every dance emote in fortnite. For an example, the default dance is a reference to a specific scene in fucking scrubs of all things.

The backing drums in Knuckles' theme from sonic 3/the sonic 3 miniboss theme coincidentally just sound similar.

I can't remember f I ever linked this and I'm to lazy to check but there's a 13-ish year old upload on youtube of both the knuckles encounter and miniboss themes combined. Surprised this blatant similarity never got used in the final games when it was clearly meant to lead into the other track.

Proportions mainly, Sega wanted Sonic proper as a skin, Epic said no claiming his proportions were too off and suggested making Sonicman instead
