Speaking of proper translations, how come this was changed?

4kids dubbed the series and were infamous for changing shit to try and avoid possible network issues , though this is obvious lmao. Fuck that reminds me the 4kids ninja turtles swore but changed it to turtle/sewer/ninja pun variants and that was ok for some reason.

Oh god, was Ninja just Nigga the whole time?

TMNT 2K3 was legitimately fan-fuckin'-tastic, but man that was cringey even back then. You could tell stuff like that or the intro with their various skating equipment was pure executive-level thought of, or Peter Laird's concessions to, what they thought'd appeal to kids.
Skating equipment is at least less insane than shit like the toilet waterboarding device from the OG cartoon/toyline.

"No guys it's just ooze guys they're getting hit with ooze pay no attention to the fact a figure can sit on the toilet like they're taking a shit"

Lemme spoiler this since we're getting off-topic from Sonic at this point:
It's funny because I agree with you 100% this is insanity looking back on it now, but that Mirage-esque art style did wonders to make it all look cool and I will swear on my life tons of little kids back then growing up with 1987 TMNT (as I was) internalized the toy and merch art that made the turtles look cool/badass/gritty as our default view of them in our heads.

That's relevant to 2K3, IMO. My personal autism for why it was beloved by every hardcore turtle fan? Not only did it seemingly adapt all but six issues of the volume 1 Mirage era (including Tales volume 1 and the various, sometimes barely-known) one-shot/anthology story books - sole exceptions being the Bloodsucker and Complete Carnage/Radical issues) and a ton of Nu-Mirage of volumes 2/4... it used a variant of Jim Dooney's style for the show and entirely his style for stock art. And thus it LOOKED like the then-hazy memories so many people had of 1987 via their toys, merch art, that "cool" aspect coming to life, so that people tuned in because it actually seemed to live up to those memories. Remember that this is juuuust on the cusp of the Eternal September of smartphones coming a year later and everything being uploaded to the internet for permanently easy reference so it seemed on point. It's also why the toyetic stuff or kid-appeal stuff felt especially cheesy with 2K3, because of that already-internal expectations they're already cool and not need to be especially "kid-appealing" (in spite of growing up as lil' kids with THE kid-appealing version, and now they're older checking in on 2K3, without putting two and two together).

You know what, I did not find a lot of Sonic/TMNT crossover shit.

Clearly what we need is the original Mirage Turtles, but with the Sonic characters instead. We have Sonic, Shadow, Silver, come up with some 4th idiot, have there be way too much blood, swearing and crying on the floor. Shadow has a gun sometimes. All the time. Everytime.

Shadow's obviously Raphael and Silver's clearly Donatello. Sonic you'd think would be Leonardo but he functions far better as the Michelangelo as being fun-loving and free-spirited, but most naturally gifted in terms of athletics.

They need a leader as their Leo.

The whole point with the biolizard is it's a failed mindless destructive abomination that got repurposed into a brute force failsafe to his whole "crash the ark into earth" contigency plan he came up with after the government killed everyone gerald knew and put shadow in cryofreeze.
But it's so cute, though! How could anyone hate that smile?

I think I see what Gerald was doing up there...

Government: Are you making horrible lizard monsters and chaos powered Hedgehogs?
Gerald: No, I hate weapons. I'm just trying to cure my granddaughter's incurable disease.

Maria: Grandpa, why are you making a giant death lizard?
Grandpa: It's the Government! They're forcing me to do it! Now I need to go make Water Chaos monsters! Go play with the Hedgehog, he came out all weird.

The Japanese are mad at screenshots and fan translations of the Shadow manga, so much that CoroCoro posted a statement. (Archive):

The replies to it are a mix of complaining that there's no international releases, complaining about piracy and quoting Gabe Newell.

Japan may have stricter laws about copyright but it's retarded nobody over there saw this coming. Sonic's popularity exists primarily overseas, not to mention it being known for having one of the most autistic fanbases.

The obliviousness of the Japanese will never cease to amaze me, it's been shown time and time again the western portion of a fanbase for something is huge and yet they ignore it, then get mad when westerns pirate their shit because that's their only option to get it or get mad when it doesn't sell over there

It's like they have a love-hate relationship with the west
  • advertise a game to the west and then decide to keep it japan only
  • announce features and cool events/goodies, but either make the west wait months after japan got it, or refuse to give them anything except for maybe table-scraps
  • actually appeal to the west but make a game that winds up having all the things the west actually HATES in games.
It's like that stereotype of how an asian gets in a car and suddenly becomes retarded, only applied to games where any hint of supporting the west and suddenly their brains turn off.
