Thoughts on the shadow manga?

In just one panel, SEGA manages to ruin Shadow's backstory.

That it was an ordinary soldier who shot Maria of his own volition was one of the core motivators behind Shadow's condemnation of humanity; recasting it as Black Doom being some sort of puppetmaster makes it much less impactfuk.

I thought you guys were being serious about Black Doom ordering the hit, but it's just Dooms Eye chilling outside and watching it go down. It's still 100% GUN that does the deed.

EDIT:
Full page in case anyone is curious. This reads as something watching more than the guy being possessed, but that's just me.

Which voice track do you use when you play Sonic games? Personally, I stick to English for any games released pre-Sonic Colors and Japanese for any games released afterwards. I feel like these games are intended to be played in English, as their mainly made for and sold to English-speaking audiences, but I really dislike Roger Craig Smith's take on Sonic and nothing he's done in the years past Colors have really sold him to me as Sonic. It's a shame too because I actually quite like a lot of the other Studiopolis voice actors, I just don't care for Roger as Sonic.

I like Roger's work, but I think I prefer Ben or Deven overall. Junichi is obviously the GOAT.

My personal GOAT is Jason Griffith, but all three of those voice actors are great as well. I used to think it was Ryan Drummond, but I've come to realize that whenever I think of Sonic, I don't hear his take, I hear Griffith's take instead. Also helps that Griffith isn't a homewrecking nutcase who can't get over the past like Drummond.
In other news, the first preview of the Colors Ultimate Re-Rainbow mod just released, which intends to make Colors Ultimate less shit. Looks pretty good, but I'll hold off on purchasing Colors Ultimate until they fix the stability issues, restore the lives system and get rid of that weird stutter thing Sonic does whenever he leans left or right. Mod is also 33 GB with the remade cutscenes lol

The mod also includes a remastered CGI Opening, which has a new ending portion to it!
They added an extra twinkle at the end of it. That's literally it.

Without cutscenes the mod is 3.3 gb. With the fancy 4k 60fps HD cutscenes it's 21gb, seems a bit overkill or they could've considered a middle-ground option at the very least.

I'll always have a soft spot for Ryan Drummond, since he felt like the first real "official" English voice of Sonic.

Roger did a good job in that crazy Boom cartoon. They all did a good job in that.

A middle ground that offered the cutscenes at 1080p60 w/ some compression definitely should've been offered. No one in this world gives a single fuck about seeing "BALDY NOSEHAIR" in its uncompressed glory, but at the same time without the updated cutscenes you're stuck with the badly AI-upscaled versions of the Wii cutscenes. At least if things don't work out for these modders I know they'll have prolific careers working on the next Call of Duty.

HE DID IT! HE SAID THE THING!

So what's happening here? It looks like the grunt was trying to shoot Shadow but hit Maria by mistake. Even that seems like watering the story down where he shot Maria because she was helping Shadow escape (I think?).
Exactly why Maria was shot always seemed ambiguous to me. Nobody knew the whole truth behind the ARK incident, which is why GUN, Shadow, and Geralt were all so quick to point fingers at each other. Shadow the Hedgehog added some context through flashbacks, but those memories may have been altered by Black Doom to sway Shadow to his side.

Oh it blew up here and resetera and Twitter...hes implied hes had litigation over it plus the infamous c&d. I want his career to crash and burn but I doubt it will happen.
Never say never, buddy. Documenting shit, and putting it out there. That's what this gossip site is for. The more we do it, the more likely it'll happen.

Get out, you ugly prototype!
I really always will like how SA2 was a nearly 1 to 1 direct translation of the Japanese version. Modern "intellectuals" all try and frame it like "oh no see that's bad because only localizers and the translation team really KNOW how to convey the original intent!" as if it's not a simple ass thing to do aside from shit like puns or pop culture references some people might not get tied to JP only shit. I think it's been rambled a bout a lot by a ton of people, me included but jesus christ shadow treating killing the biolizard like he's putting a friend out of his misery is fucking weird and wrong feeling.

The whole point with the biolizard is it's a failed mindless destructive abomination that got repurposed into a brute force failsafe to his whole "crash the ark into earth" contigency plan he came up with after the government killed everyone gerald knew and put shadow in cryofreeze. Like I don't think shadow even knew the prototype "shadow". Been seeing video essays pop up lately about "ARE SHADOWS MEMORIES ALL FAKE?!?!" In the vein of the fucking "THE KOKER CAN BE ANYONE HIS PAST IS MULTIPLE CHOICE!" shit but much like the joker people they fucking neglect basic fucking info and hint drops in the actual cutscenes of SA2. REALLY simple ones too. The possibility of his memories being fake is brought up when he's told the file for project shadow doesn't match up with the shadow everyone knows. You know, the Shadow that if you zoom in on the filecard is the fucking biolizard? the shadow gerald is referring to is blatantly the biolizard in that one journal recording too, and after all those little hints mounting up the Biolizard literally fucking shows up right when they're about to stop the cannons core and everyone realizes "wait that's the shadow that was being talked about".

TL;dR Somehow 20 years after the fact video essayists and journos STILL do not understand THE RETARDED MALFORMED LIZARD/SALAMANDER ON LIFE SUPPORT THAT JUST WANTS TO KILL AND EAT PEOPLE IS ALSO NAMED "SHADOW". THERE WERE TWO NIGGAS THE WHOLE TIME!

I might have said it before but I really don't like how a similarly desperate but higher intensity remaster of the Biolizard fight theme was used for a green hill asset flip stage in sonic forces instead of a cool bossfight with the thing it's the theme of.
