Eggman in Pocket Adventure seems more like a happy accident more than anything intentional, note how he randomly changes from his new to his old design when the boss starts and back to his new design when it ends.
In fact, it feels like for a while the game was going to have the classic designs instead of the modern ones, a prototype from only two months before release still features black eyes Sonic for most of the sprites and even in the final product Super Sonic has green eyes instead of the red ones like in his Adventure design.

Maybe, but it's still neat that it turned out the way it did. Also doesn't change the fact the game is the only one that contains a more classic styled sprite of Eggman's modern design.

I suppose I can use this comment to poorly segue into Sonic Team's attempts to retcon humans other than Eggman from the series. First they tried to pull some weird argument of there being "two worlds". Now they're saying that GUN got completely wiped out and "put in it's place" because the United Federation lost to the Eggman Empire in Forces. Calling that dumb is practically an understatement. It's like saying that when France lost to Nazi Germany and got occupied before being liberated that they will never establish their military again because they got their ass kicked in 1940.

There's also christian and jewish ones of Mario. They come from an old officially licensed educational trivia card set thing. Weirdly sonic never had anything similar to that. I mean sure there was Sonic's schoolhouse but that's another thing entirely divorced from official images of an insanely popular video game character taking part in real world religions.

in terms of expressiveness AoSTH was the best out of DiC's output. remember a few years ago (probably 8 or 9 now because corona fuck) finding a shitload of ebay listings for the production cels for like 20 dollars each and I got one of robotnik screaming his lungs out as he's about to be killed dead by a falling rock or something. I don't know what happened to it but I remember i slightly damaged it by scraping the outline while taking it out of the package to inspect it and it made me sad even with it being barely noticeable.

I will die on the hill that sonic games aren't as bad as youtubers say but I also won't exactly say I think many of them are amazing either
Shadow the hedgehog is a decent to okay game in my eyes despite it's problems but I don't think it's great either and I feel that goes for most sonic games with the exception of 2, 3&knuckles, adventure 2, and mania in my eyes

Sonic games are more interesting as experimental projects from technical and gameplay perspectives than actual gamers themselves. Example: Sonic R was originally a Formula 1 racer, which explains the faulty handling. Sega needed a game for their Saturn, so Traveler's Tales was rushed TO make a Sonic game with existing assets.
 
there is a sonic olympics arcade game where you actually run on a pad and jump over hurdles and shit and every time I get drunk at the barcade near me when I get sick of drunk driving in crazy taxi for like 4 hours I play it non stop it’s so fun.
 
So has anyone here been to the Sonic Symphony? I've been contemplating going because I like listening to Sonic music as much as the next person, but the prospect of being in a room for hours with a bunch of IRL Sonic fans who probably don't wash sounds like utter torture to me.

Those videos of people whooping and hollering during certain songs in the concert is pretty uniform across all the performances, you may consider that a detriment. The audiences tend to be male-dominated as well, I don't have the highest faith in most male sonic fans taking care of themselves.

I know someone who went out to see a recent performance of the concert, I'll ask if a gas mask was needed or not.

Don't forget Jaleel White voicing all 3 hedgehogs, including Sonia. Even as a little autistic retard who loved it that weirded me out a bit.
 
I'm gonna need a reminder of why Udon is so terrible, as I can't for the life of me remember why. Surprised Flynn didn't know though after begging to get in. You would think a guy who tries to pander so hard to the fandoms would be more aware of what's going to get some very negative attention from them.

Yeah Thrash was a fun design. If I remember right Flynn based him off a character select glitch from S&K where if you switched between Sonic and Knuckles really fast, it merged the sprites together for a second. A shame Flynn said he essentially had to disown him after making him furry Hitler, so he'll never make another appearance., not even a re-imagining.
