I can't believe they retconned the shape of the ARK's windows, wtf was SEGA thinking.

I don't know much about Flynn outside of he now writes the comics, the games and the cartoons. which for brand synergy is probably for the best there's a guy with a part in all of it.

I actually yesterday found scans online of the series and looked at his first 5/6 issues to see if I had ever read it at all, (I did I quit reading it not long after though) and it was cracking me up at how indecipherable it is to what sonic is now.

you have evil sonic and rouge fucking with locke, shadow is working for eggman but still comes over for sonic's birthday, sonic is dating fiona fox, mammoth mogul and nagus show up and there's like a war being fought over the crown and sword of acorns, eggman murders his terminator daughter, a magic horse guy shows up and sacrifices himself, tails wizard granddad or something shows up. I was laughing my ass off trying to remember who and what the fuck any of this meant 20 years since the last time I saw it. It made me wish I still had those issues to hand to some other random adult I know and ask them to read it and ask them what they could make of it.
I'm crossposting myself from the Penders thread because I wanted to mention something that was irrelevant to him. when Sonic Forces came out I was playing it the day I got it (that game seemed like it was 40 minutes long I beat it in one sitting and was like what a fuckin' waste of money). and anyways my then-girlfriend got home from work when I was towards the very end of the game. she sat down on the couch and asked what I was doing, and I told her I had bought the new sonic game and she was like oh cool do you like it?

before I could respond a cutscene started that was like a really retarded lord of the rings looking battle where knuckles, tails, amy, two sonics, the titty bat, the gay bee and my stupid fucking player character who was a fat ugly bear with a gun wearing a t shirt and glasses and shit were like leading the charge of an army of furry sonic characters into a battle and she just started laughing hysterically. like could not stop laughing to the point she was crying. then I started laughing because I realized how ridiculous this had to look to her to come home and find me on the couch drinking beer out of the case and that is what was happening on the tv, and I told her if you're not going to take sonic seriously, you can get the fuck out! and we randomly laughed about that quote for months.

but anyways going back and looking at flynn's first few issues in Archie when he was trying to tie up all the plotlines of everyone before him gave me that exact same feeling of laughing my ass off. particularly the horse guy showing up this page had me almost crying last night. I love how fucking stupid the Sonic franchise can be.

Since we're sharing Sonic experiences here's my only real memory of Sonic Battle. Spoilered because it contains actual spoilers.
Before traveling to the final battle Emerl goes on this big speech about how much the other characters have done for him and how much he loves them. I just remember rolling my eyes because it was so fucking obvious what was going to happen. I'm surprised he didn't mention that he was just three days away from retirement.

>His favourite ship is Flying Battery
I admit, it took me too long to get it. (I thought it was Metropolis Zone at first like a retard)
Excellent choice of fangame by the by, that Triple Trouble remake is great.

I wish this thing had more room for favourite songs, Red Mountain, Be Cool, Be Wild and Be Groovy, Hidden Palace, Mr. Unsmiley... so many good picks.

I learned the other day of "Sonic 3C" - Sega's would-be official version of Sonic 3 and Knuckles as a singular, whole game vs Sonic 3 alone (AKA Sonic 3A) and Sonic and Knuckles (Sonic 3B). It would have been for the Sega Mars, IE the Genesis/Mega Drive and 32X in one console. I'm commenting on this mostly because as a giant fan of Sonic 3 Complete I learned it would specifically use the Sonic 3 naming, level design (IE the death spring at the start of Hydrocity Act 2 or Eggman boxes in Launch Base Act 2), and music over the SK ones and I always felt that was "proper"... though I'll cop I appreciate Sonic 3 Complete finding a use for every single tune from both S3 alone and SK while I get the feeling we'd miss out on SK specific tunes for 3C.

Since I've dabbled in the what-ifs for Sega before, primarily "what if they didn't bother with the 32X and all its games got polished/completed as intended as Saturn launch titles" I am pondering how it'd be if Sonic 3C was part of that. Gamers would've grumbled at buying it "again" but I could see it managing to be a seller alongside an actually good/completed Chaotix as a proper "Sonic 4" as it was very originally conceived as.

which one is your favorite? and why? genuinely curious
Sonic 2. It might just be nostalgia since it was my first Sonic game, but I really think it has better level design. Everything else is sort of subjective but Sonic 2 just flows really well, Sonic 1 & 3 slow down a lot more. Sonic 3 in particular has some shitty gimmicks that don't do the game any favors.

What about you? I feel like I remember you being a Sonic 3 guy.

You remembered correctly. It really comes down to personal preference. If you're looking for a more "pure" Sonic experience, then yeah, I can see why 2 would be many people's favorite. However, 3&K I feel manages the perfect balance of exploration and high-speed platforming that CD tried to do, but kinda-sorta failed at.
