I was going to say "they modded the Siivagunner Totinos remixes into Sonic Mania, so they can mod the Sonic 3 MJ tracks in", but then I realized at that point you might as well just download a rom and use a 3rd party HD mod.

Hey, I didn't they were superior ports. Just good enough that the general public wouldn't complain.HD ports that the fans outdo for absolutely free.
Well, I tried. Using LMMS and re-recording each instrument/sample on Sneedacity with the help of RYMCAST to isolate the channels. I didn't realize how crusty those "MJ" samples were until I listened to them with headphones. Replaced the proto bass with the MJ one too.... huh. I would have never thought to combine the MJ drums'n'percussions with the proto/collection melody. That's a fucking good idea... in theory anyway.
It got me thinking about tinkering with Launch Base just to see how that would sound all fused together in this similar style.
Beat me to it, but you should have linked the real tweet chain. (Archive)I mean, good on him for being transparent, but something tells me he's going to be mega shitcanned over these tweets.
So what's possible according to that last tweet, is that they put the wrong version of the altered songs in Sonic 3. Have I got that right?
As much as I like the games, I have never seen a series where it appears that both the publisher and developers are as incompetent as each other. Usually it's one or the other.
There's a new theory not getting much attention that the versions on Sonic Origins may have been recorded from a prototype that Sega still has in their possession, one that isn't public. The important thing is that the prototype shown on Twitch via Sonic Retro showed physical evidence that the PC Collection songs were indeed the original songs for Sonic 3, so it should be a no brainer to anyone even outside of the Sonic-Sphere that if you have licensing issues, just use your own in-house songs you made years ago. What absolutely NOBODY wanted was these tunes to be "redone/remade/revamped" to where they sound like shit.
It's a shame because Origins is otherwise solid from what I've played so far, but 3+K does have some bizarre quirks to it.Beat me to it, but you should have linked the real tweet chain. (Archive)
Also to sum it up, SEGA did changes to the finished build that ended up adding more bugs to it.

After Origins the next fuck-up approaches.Few small tidbits about the music in Frontiers
I mean, I didn't see anything impressive in the trailers that I either haven't already seen in a Sonic game or that hasn't already been done (sometimes better) in other games released before Frontiers.or the game will be mindnumbingly boring.
CD didn’t get a true final boss and Desert Dazzle because Sega didn’t trust Whitehead to add new content to their game.>Team was ruched to get shit done
>Clear and present bugs in the game that they were told they couldn't fix.

Seriously though, This has been Sega's M.O. since Sonic 2: Plan a project, but give the team as little time as possible to work on it including squashing bugs (the latter being more prevelent as soon as they went 3D with Sonic). I'm not defending Sega at all, in fact I feel bad for Tax/Stealth and Headcannon. Unfortunately, Sega seems to be retarded/stubborn x infinity in regards to how they do things. This is the same company that told Big Red Button "oh hey, that huge project you're working on? yea it's going on the underpowered WiiU now that the engine doesn't support, LULZ!!". I'm not surprised Tax/Stealth and Headcannon were treated like crap.
The Japanese branch of Sega has always had problems with adapting to new trends, come to think of it.You’d think Sega would’ve learned after Mania to leave them alone and let them do their thing.
This is what's so bizarre about the whole thing, because games like Unleashed are roughly around 8-12 hours on a standard playthrough (more for your first time most likely) and that's on the higher end of the playtime spectrum for the franchise. We know Frontiers has four islands with most likely a lot of puzzles, cyberspace levels and stuff to do but if they're to be believed this is the first time a Sonic game has tried to go for a runtime of this length. After Origins the next fuck-up approaches.

The OST is going to be at least OK-tier, but Frontiers being "a fairly long game" is either a lie (which would be the better outcome) or the game will be mindnumbingly boring.
FUCK
It's going for length > content from the get-go and that's the issue. Puzzles can be fun, but judging from the "current content" trying to extend the playtime in a superficial way is misplaced here. If it's boring, most players just do the necessary stuff, finish the game and be done with it.This is what's so bizarre about the whole thing, because games like Unleashed are roughly around 8-12 hours on a standard playthrough (more for your first time most likely) and that's on the higher end of the playtime spectrum for the franchise. Most modern day gaymers don't even fully complete most games these days, in particular longer games over the 30-40 hour mark (just run through the story related trophies on any PS profile for example and see the percentage of completion on those trophies ) a completionist is an extreme minority in this day and age, so making Frontiers artificially longer through overworld padding is not going to look particularly attractive to most players, and heck even most Sonic fans tbh, more content can be a good thing but it can get too repetitive if it's just done for the sake of making the game longer, see all Ubisoft open world games for instance. It's going for length > content from the get-go and that's the issue. It is worth remembering that the Yakuza series almost didn't happen or exist in its current form because SEGA didn't think nonviolent murder hobo GTA-esque crime simulator would work and either would can the project or just make it into a shit GTA clone probably. The Japanese branch of Sega has always had problems with adapting to new trends, come to think of it.
