Got it, it was back in February 2015, in the Trans Megathread.

I think it's great that all Karma Monkey said about it was "Ashley was far from perfect, and she was in prison for a very good reason, not likely to be a poster child for trans prisoner rights, but still, she deserved better. "

Nobody actually brought up what she did to get thrown in jail until about a week later, at which point the thread went from "oh, that's awful" to "okay never mind."
