There was a push-pull factor with furries. Furries are nothing new. There were furries in ancient greece. But back in the 90s/00s, there was a sense of shame. This lead to furry communities being very welcoming, because they couldn't afford to be exclusionary. Now in addition to the zoophile freaks, you also had a lot of sexual deviants who went furry as a way to couch their fucked up desires in cartoon animals; "I only want to gut and rape the corpses of young children...in mine craft as a cartoon wolf". (There's a vicious circle where your "fursona" gives you an identity that isn't "you"; it abstracts you from your actions allowing you to start doing more and more fucked up shit, but we don't need to go into gay psychological tangents.) So no matter how fucked up you were, the furry community would back you.

Furries were overwhelmingly male, so most of them were jailhouse gay. It wasn't too far of a jump from copsplaying as a Wolf power bottom to cosplaying as a strong & beautiful lady (with the bonus points of more and more laws forcing everyone to go along with you playing pretend as the lady). So yeah, as the tranny brigade took over it made sense they'd be protecting their fellow freaks, especially the ones who'd helped them get their start.

tl;dr Trannies want more furries because it makes them seem like less of freaks by comparison.

There are a lot of YouTubers out there that would have gladly dropped some serious cash money on SA just to film themselves fucking with the site and its userbase, had it had any kind of relevance at all in the modern day. But, nobody under the age of 30 cares about SA at all, let alone knows what it is, so it wouldn't generate clicks, so it likely didn't even get considered by anyone outside the forum.

I was speaking more to an individual thought process vs SA groupthink, and this is probably the best answer. Usually people mature as get beyond 30 and develop the attitude of “idiot kids these days,” so I wonder what kind of depravity aging goons get up to when they decide identifying as and fetishizing kids cartoon characters is an okay thing that adults should be allowed to celebrate.

I guess any goons who developed a modicum of wisdom and maturity have been long gone.

It is absolutely this. The minute Trump won the election you could practically see something shatter in a lot of goons' brains. The goon guilds were already on the road straight to woke hell, but Trump cut the brake lines and dropped a boulder on the accelerator.

Not to power level too much, but I ended up leaving every single goon chat server and gaming guild over this. It just got so insanely thought police-y in them that you couldn't even make a tame joke without some harpy screeching.

I can confirm this. I have seen longtime veterans without a single infraction were permabanned from goon guilds for a single thoughtcrime, due to certain words apparently being double-secret anti-black dogwhistles.

There is no individual thought process, it is all groupthink.

In th ecase of your pondering, it is simple "The group is now protecting trannies and furries, I will redirect my impotent rage on the new accepted targets while also cutting off my dick".

Because, as you said, anyone who wasn't a weak-willed mental retard left - either got a life or were driven off, often before they could be charged with thoughtcrime. All you have left is the people who have nothing in their lives except SA.

I actually have been enjoying CP2077 a lot despite some wonkiness and wanted to see what others were saying but it's all "SOME MISSIONS YOU HELP THE POLICE SO THE GAME IS BAD" and shit like that.

I've always enjoyed the fact the forum is dying and nobodies happy but they can't/won't figure out why and demand a stronger push to moral purity to make things better, creating negative re-enforcemant cycle.

Comedy forum Something Awful decided it was easier to simply post a list of jokes you were allowed to make. This makes it easy to weed out wrongthinkers, as making or laughing at any unapproved humor is cause for a ban. To save time, everyone just started to refer to the jokes by their number on the list. Of course, with everyone maturing and growing up and realizing the things they found funny as teens were really sort of fucked up and against proper right-think, it was only a matter of time before that list of allowed jokes needed to be pruned.

Anyway, that's why posting "9" or "Nine" is now a permaban and everyone instead posts "N*ne" or "The tailed-numeral slur" posting the Tail-numeral slur is now also a permaban because its racist against furries

Interestingly, that whole concept doesn't even swing around to being meta-funny in an absurdist sense, so it becomes eternally unfunny, like a comedy black hole.

Prior to this I thought that you could always flog something into absurdity and end up with at least a 3/10 joke (ahem... Tim&Eric), but now I will have to inform my writing team of this stunning development lest they create another comedic singularity (female).
 
I remember going on GBS and other parts of the site to read goons takes on other "lesser" sites like r/relationships and the hot takes on that page slowly devolved into the goons themselves clearly showing that they had no business either being in or understanding what they were critiquing in the first place.

I stopped following LPs on the site around 18' when the last vestiges of good screenshot stuff finally died off. Video LP was replaced by YouTube way before that. It's kind of funny that Slowbeef and his community with the "amazing idea" tried to mock the up and coming dudes only to get completely blown out in the long run and miss the gravy train.

I was in this boat, at least when it came to video game stuff. That and reposting stuff from tumblr or twitter. Then I realized at some point that twitter gimmick accounts, or even reddit can fill this same niche faster, often better, and without all the troon bitching and navel-gazing. My one go-to thread has a wiki, so there's just about zero reason to ever go back; I hear it's a shithole.
