Being a computer guy no longer means actually knowing anything about programming or computer internals. All you need to do is use an ipad and post funny memes on reddit and hey presto!

It helps to think of those kinds of nu-webdevelopers of marketing/advertising guys foremost, and everything else later.

I doubt old Jeff will last long beyond this year before they run him off the forums. I mean it's obvious to anyone who isn't part of it, which kinda makes it fascinating.
 
Not even sure if I'm willing to blame him for being incapable of removing that banner, given the horror stories I heard of that forum software. Shit, maybe you need to run some raw MySQL commands to modify the database to change it or something, I'm sure it's some equally esoteric shit like that. I'm sure lowtax didn't tell him anything about how to run it, and no way in hell is there a manual.

Remember how many spastics here had a tantrum when Null upgraded the XenForo version? Can you imagine how exponentially worse the tantrum on SA would be? He's probably stuck between a rock and a hard place and hasn't even realized it yet. He'll either have to continue to use old shitty software he does not have the knowledge or skill to use, or rip everything out and cause at least three million tranny suicides.

He's pretty much already said that he would rather fix the current software than move to XenForo.
 
So this guy bought a site he did not know how to operate, having been in position to have prior knowledge of how unwieldy it is. No matter who it is, every owner of SA is cursed to be a incompetent.

On the one hand, I'm positive the front page isn't running on an ancient version of vBulletin and there's no such thing as a load-bearing post.
On the other hand, lowt did blank the furry article rather than deleting it outright. Maybe the front page really is as bad as the forums...
 
I remember the original Somethingawful site. and I remember maybe around 04 or 03 radium basically refreashed it by making the articles multi page (I assume to get more ad views) and the goons didnt like it.

The main problem has always been that people are chosen based on incomprehensible internal politics and sucking up to whatever idiotic fad is popular amongst Debate and Discussion goons. It really is a forums-wide, collective form of Borderline Personality Disorder. Look how goons brushed aside or laughed off years of domestic abuse allegations and other shady shit for Lowtax, up until he finally became too drugged up and inept to make even the barest effort at gaslighting. And these are people who WANT to be tricked and manipulated by their beloved leaders. Either way, on Something Awful you are wholly good, up until you are wholly bad. They can't even just say that revenge porn is wrong and that even thought Rich is a piece of shit, it shouldn't be allowed. Suddenly the woman who posted revenge porn to humiliate her boss, and definitely not boyfriend, is the victim of the revenge porn. We see retarded shit out of these trannies all the time and it's matter of time until some mental gymnastics tick a specific box for you. This one did it for me. I can't wrap my head around this one.

MO's revenge porn statute doesn't define foot fetishism as a "sexual act", but I wonder if he could get the DA to pursue charges if he attested to the sexual gratification he gets from feet. I'm sure both the DA's office and PD think they're both worthless retards and Logan is in another state, but it'd be funny to see Rich try to get Logan brought up on charges.
