IMO: there is something really really fucked up about the SA forums that goes beyond regular internet losers. Between the ridiculously overrepresented troon presence there are also a shit ton of morbidly depressed alcoholics and general fuck ups that all seem to congregate in one place.

There is definitely a fed presence (Vilerat getting goons jobs with the state dept) and the fact that Lowtax somehow makes money doing nothing.

tl;dr I halfway believe SA might be some sort of mind control op.

My theory is that SomethingAwful attracted a lot of talent and a lot of orbiters in the early days, but all the talent left leaving only orbiters.

This is very much true, though the moment you became an anybody you left the forum ASAP since it was just extra potential heat to catch. There's also a lot of people who joined SA because they wanted to be in some gaming guild and those who only joined SA for the LP forum.

Again there is a Fed presence cause of the military sub-form for years since it was created. Back when the site was fun there was really good thread about nuclear subs (with a guy that actually worked on them) that was a little too loose with the OPSEC and SA was getting a ton of China/Russia IP visit. The military mod got a out of the blue phone call from the NSA telling him to knock that shit off.

Well there's also the gigantic issue that if you "made it" - Lowtax either refused to pay you or would deign to pay you a pittance compared to what you were bringing into the site. It isn't shocking that the talent got poached/left in record numbers.

Look at the states that went Obama, sometimes twice, and then went Trump. They're all working class states full of white people. If Obama had run again he would have won. Hillary had little difference in policy but was openly contemptuous of white people in general and white working class people specifically. Even if it wasn't her rhetoric ("deplorables") it was in her refusal even to show up to these states. Her actions and words made it clear she didn't care about these people and even actively hated them.

Both Obama and her own husband could at least pretend they cared. And Trump, who most certainly does not care in the least, at least made some attempt to pretend. Hillary didn't. She was just too obviously a reptile.
