It wasn't that big a lie. Britain was levying all kinds of ridiculous taxes, including taking all our raw materials, turning them into finished goods over there, and then selling them back to us at exorbitant prices. They were also doing pretty much jack shit for our actual benefit, that "taxation without representation" shit. The main thing a foreign power could do for us is defending us, and we could defend ourselves, in fact, we could defend ourselves from them, too.

So imagine it's like a medieval serf situation, where you get no benefits, no roads, or anything from the foreign power. Some guy just shows up and demands your money. But instead of him having a sword and armor and a horse and you having a rock, you are pretty sure you can kick that guy's ass.

It was a really pragmatic revolution and arguably not even a revolution. We were already governing ourselves, the same state governments continued to exist afterwards, and things were so little disrupted we didn't even establish a new order until over a decade after the end of the war, after taking time to think about what the new government should look like. Arguably, it wasn't a revolution at all.

When SA goons (and commies in general) jabber about revolution, they really have no idea what they're doing after it. And unlike actual Communists like the Bolsheviks, they don't even have any idea what a revolution would look like or what you'd need to do to start one, how you would establish a vanguard party, how you would get this to appeal to enough normies to have grunts for your heavy lifting, or even just how you deal with people laughing at you.

It’s admittedly sad that the Toxx clause has to exist and be enforced at all.

The reason it‘s in place is because goons fucking love to liveblog about themselves in every thread they wander into. People on Kiwi Farms tend to generally be pretty good about not posting any details about themselves or their actions that could:
  • Reveal that they are a lolcow
  • Be used by a lolcow seeking to hurt them
People rarely join the Kiwi Farms in search of attention, and when they do, the attention that they wind up receiving is not to their liking. This is apart from goons, who love to share their hideous selfies and brag about the boners they get in women’s restrooms and exclaim that they burst into tears upon seeing the screenshot in the Undertale let’s play where a character’s HP went from 1 down to 0.5 and confess that their depravity knew no bounds when it came to a certain female dog named Buffy. Goons fucking love to talk about themselves, even and especially when they should not. The Toxx clause limits that somewhat by requiring that goons live up to their promises, but they shouldn’t be making those promises in the first place.

Imma crosspost this from random other threads around here. Traditional Games sperg Ettin ran a smear campaign against some dude called "Zak Smith" awhile ago, over some #MeToo shit. It didn't go so well, Ettin got sued, and apparently part of the settlement was that Ettin had to post a groveling public apology on Twitter and every internet forum he had posted on, including Something Awful. Nobody neurotypical cares about any person involved in this shitstorm, but this is Something Awful we're talking about and there's a fuckin riot going on because just because Ettin retracted all those bogus rape allegations made on behalf of some other twitter dweller doesn't mean they're not true, you guys!

If goons had any sense of context or consequences they'd have done this and then kept their mouths shut. They have no grasp of what is actually going on:
  • Ettin went balls-out trying to destroy a guy's reputation (and from the sound of what happened to the guy's career, Ettin had a degree of success in doing so)
  • Ettin got sued for defamation, e.g. trying to harm a dude's name by publishing lies maliciously and/or with reckless disregard for the truth
  • The lawsuit went so badly for Ettin that he negotiated an out-of-court settlement that included monetary restitution and a public statement amounting to "hey, I was publishing lies about this guy with the express intent of ruining his life, and I'm sorry"
The intent behind the public-apology component of the settlement is very clear; it's an attempt to mitigate and/or repair the harm that was done to the plaintiff's reputation when Ettin decided to go around screaming "HE'S A RAPIST" to as many people as he could get to listen. How are goons responding to this statement? They all got together to post "lol we don't give a flying fuck about the apology; you said he's a rapist so he's a rapist forever."

My understanding is that the plaintiff has other lawsuits still in the works, against people who published unfounded allegations similar to Ettin's. The goons are only ensuring that the other defendants -- and anybody else who tries to sling around dubious rape allegations in the future -- face even harsher consequences. Good job, goon sirs.

Depending on how much he cost the plaintiff, combined with the usually considerable court and lawyer fees for a case like this, Ettin could very easily be looking at a six figure loss, and his apology tour was probably an entirely additional condition on top of monetary damages. I've really never seen someone get crushed that hard in a case like this.

What it sounds like to me is that it was an out-of-court settlement, though if the apology tour was court-ordered that would be even funnier. Either way, I'm amused that goons are falling over themselves to demonstrate that the apology tour didn't do shit and that the punishment Ettin got should have been even worse. This will absolutely have consequences for anybody else that Zak is suing.

Yeah, that's something I've wondered about. For a group that loves diversity, they sure don't give a shit about foreign politics besides Brexit-related stuff. But I guess that goes hand in hand with their bizarre-ass worldview where they believe:

-foreign refugees and the like are more important than Americans who were born in America and have more of a right to live here
-but also, America is a shithole and the worst country and it's horrible

They get oddly upset over even tiny shit like how Trump likes his steak well done, but handwave the nightmarish shit that's happened in Venezuela and Zimbabwe like they're toy countries that aren't worth taking seriously. Especially Venezuela, because it leaves a teeny tiny little hairline fracture in the whole prospect of socialism.

The fun part is because they're pretty NPC in their inclinations, you can usually link to personal twitter accounts where they copypasta'd the exact same thing, if any of these stupid fucks are involved in the industry they're just putting money in Zacks pocket at this stage.

The weird part is Zacks such a collosal asshole, but they're so useless they've handed him the field....again because they lack the discipline to understand you need proff.

For those of you unfamiliar, Zak Smith, aka Zak S, aka Zak Sabbath, is an L.A. hipster who "stars" in porn movies, but is better known for his tabletop RPG blog Playing D&D With Porn Stars. He's a weird Jéwish leftist polyamorist hipster type, but he's also unquestionably one of the two or three actual geniuses* to have ever been involved with TTRPGs. Despite his impeccable lefty credentials, he's been the object of seething hatred from the SJWs in the TTRPG community for the better part of the past decade. IIRC, the original reason for this feud was his unapologetic enjoyment of looking at sexy ladies, but envy and resentment of his actual talent and the fact that he very obviously gets laid regularly doubtless have played a big role.
