Jesus, poor Freddie. They (twitter, tumblr and his colleagues in the world of higher ed) picked at him, and goaded him and cancelled him so hard, he gave himself a nervous breakdown. Went completely nuts.

His last missive was that he was in therapy, feeling better and had quit the internet for the sake of his health.

The mentally ill are attracted to psychology as a profession to try to understand their own issues. They are also prioritized in job placements and internships because being able to relate to your patient from personal experience is highly valued...for some reason. Really a therapist needs to be an outsider that can see things and do things someone close to the problem could not.

My statement was anecdotal. My grandfather was a trained psychologist. I can't find a slam dunk other than if you put "mentally ill therapists" into a search engine you'll find glowing endorsements of the concept. Sort like how they prefer addicts to run drug intervention type stuff. But yeah since I don't have hard data you probably shouldn't believe it.

sorry, I was being facetious see cuz we're in the good old goon thread and "citation needed" is an old goon trope thing, not sure if it still is

i know nutbars flock to psych undergrad programs and a good amount become therapists and some even make it to the pHd level. but what I highly doubt is that crazies are singled out and given preferential treatment as far as internships and job placement. sounds like horseshit. i know that for instance addicts would be given special consideration for addiction counseling jobs and stuff like that. but I don't know that I believe actual mentally ill people are hand-picked for jobs or internships where the goal is to help the mentally ill. sounds like a recipe for absolute disaster.

Honestly I think she should take lowtax to court and claim adverse possession of SomethingAwful. All the pieces are there: she clearly has an intention to possess, the owner is an absentee, and she's lived there for years.

I prefer to refer to him by what MoBN stood for - Mage of Blackest Night (seriously). He used to post a lot in the MMA threads and there are some funny pictures of him in a novice grappling tournament somewhere. Back then he was a goofy guy who was nonetheless well meaning and therefore likeable. It's a pity the Left mind virus managed to colonise his brain.
