I was going to guess maybe TS Smelliot, and at one point you could pay extra to have your reg date changed to whatever I believe. 9/11 2001 was a popular one.

Yeah 9/11/01 was the big one a bunch paid to have, and I remember some goons with 1969 regdates too. Maybe 4/20/69? Can't remember the exact date.

I see Shmorky is getting the same revisionist history treatment as Koala March, where she never scammed anyone or bought a steam rig with her "minority charity." Shmorky has his faults but it's really transphobic harassment queer target stalking. Only White Supremacists would criticize anything Koala March ever does. Only Nazis would criticize Democrats. Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Also there is a push to rename the gas chamber, delete "Ableist" smilies from the forums and saying sperg/autistic is now punishable.

I think the chart watcher @Weppers is on to something with the thousand tumblr users flooding in to sign up for the Dangan Ronpa let's play thread when Lowtax threw up the paywall. Add that to the unemployed perpetually triggered moderation that's been in force for the past decade and you get a less active ResetEra that costs money.

One last little observation:
721129

Total threads and total posts, and archived threads and archived posts. Now in every forum I checked the active threads go back to May or April of 2014, later than that and you need the archives upgrade. GBS is 2016, but that's because they deleted it and reopened it in 2016 for no good reason. The GBS graveyard is 2014 like everything else.

Take that post total and divide it by the thread total.
Archived threads, up to 2014: 52.8 posts per thread
Active threads, 2014 to present: 24.0 posts per thread

Each thread is getting half the average activity it used to, and it can't completely be blamed on the full retard GBS 2.0, the "active" part of GBS graveyard only has ~34,800 threads. If anything that may have brought down the archives number more than the active number.

This could be taken to mean that there are more threads which get a brief burst of focused activity, which would be good, but I don't think that's what is happening. Every forum is dominated by its huge megathreads, most of them going back years, and I think this means that any thread outside of those gets next to nothing these days.

Never mind, that counter broke on March 26, 2016 and hasn't moved since.

I would take any of SA's metrics with a big pinch of salt. I don't know what's worse, Radium's spaghetti code or ZDR "accidentally" deleting all his posts and breaking the database in the process, but Lowtax probably regards the fact that the forums even stay up with the same awestruck, uncomprehending confused wonder as a Labrador watching a magic trick.

I recall a story that one user at some point had so many other users on ignore that it somehow crashed the database and they had to place a limit on how many users you could ignore at once. They also had to end "Hellbanning" (where some users' posts were hidden from all other users without their knowledge) because it similarly caused the server to cook itself.

Ah Halloween 2012, what a time to be alive in GBS

Was that when the rules went out the window, and suddenly gbs gender/sexuality/identityspecials were driven out with pitchforks?

E: Hell, during the charlie hebdo massacre people were even allowed to criticize islam and muslim extremists. That was before FaU finally sucked KM's clit hard enough to become a mod.

Finding valid accounts before 30000 was a bitch. I eventually had to dig through the oldest threads in the goldmine for users from 2001 and 2000 that weren't <deleted user>, so I only have 7 data points before 2002. Lowtax's account is 1999, but I don't even think that means anything. I found one guy with a 1988 regdate.

When I was there, I paid attention to reg dates and never saw anyone else with a '99 date besides Lowtax. I also got to the point where I just started blocking all 2000s on sight because nearly every 2000 I saw was insufferable.

I was going to guess maybe TS Smelliot, and at one point you could pay extra to have your reg date changed to whatever I believe. 9/11 2001 was a popular one.

Maybe that was before my time, but I only remember seeing the option to change your reg date to 9/11/01 for $9.11. People would buy that to hide their reg dates when there was a bunch of snarky bullshit regarding the
721594
s and the
721596
s, and to a lesser extent, the
721597
s.

What the fuck is he talking about? back in the old days people look at post like that as ether being a gimick or being retarded.

Also back in the sass days there were theories that lotax allowed russian scammer to laundry money by buying accounts.

Also I think a big spike in member in the early 00's was because of the torrent section hidden behind the pay wall. i wanna say 2005 is when lowtax gave them a month to move "off site"

This might be the gooniest post I've read in a long time.

There isn't a single thread on SA that doesn't inevitably turn into some anti-capitalist circle-jerk at some point, which requires you to start just skipping posts until even the armchair Marxists get bored of huffing their own farts and the thread gets back on track.

The threads rarely get back on track these days, if they ever were on track at all.

Even the god damn "post a picture threads" have 5-10 pages between them of nothing but unfunny word vomit.
