I have posted on SA since the mid 2000s. And it really is just Reddit now. It's full of easily offended, usually ultra-liberal crybabies who think posting shit like "thread delivers!" is an epic and useful comment. They may as well censor bad words for people with accounts also and use trigger warnings.

$10 was a small price to pay for all the great content it had back in the day, but it's just kind of pathetic now.

The one that sticks out to me is from an early "Shit I did as an Asshole Kid" type confession thread and at some point goons just started oversharing to get attention and some guy details how he fucked his dog.

In case you're not making a joke about there being multiple child predator mods, Aatrek. He was doxxed and found to be a full on convicted child rapist, registering as a sex offender each year for life. Lowtax initially defended him, calling all the doxxing bullshit, but he eventually couldn't ignore the evidence.

Lowtax also claimed that none of the other mods/admins could have known. The problem with that excuse is that Abe attended trekkie events with Aatrek, so clearly knew his real name.

Eggplant Wizard also had some strange tastes for a female, she wrote the standard werewolf rape fictions, but also has a taste for underaged "the sims" porn stories and modding her game to have the little girls run around in just their panties. Stumbling across that shit was nope.exe for me.

Aatrek also plugged his child photography website constantly which had copyright notices on the bottom of every page listing his real name. The availability of Aatrek's identity was never the issue; the issue was mods ignoring anyone who brought up his sexual predilections prior to the SS doxx.
 
Come on y'all, if any of our moderators turned out to be pedophiles I'd defend them. They've done a lot of hard work keeping our forums good.

The thing that always gets to me is that he's kowtowing to the least loyal of his customer base.

Take the 2016 Hilary Toxx debacle. He turns a blind eye towards mods tilting the playing field on Bernie and Trump toxxers. When the ax finally falls on the Hilary toxx crew the rules are changed yet again and several thousand dollars are directed away from the forums under the guise of 'charity'.

Lowtax is finally stirred from his slumber and metes out almost zero punishment. A job well done.

Keep rewarding those fuckos, LowT. They will crucify you for wrongthink someday - these bastards always eat each other when food runs out. You will get no credit for dancing to their tune for years, you can already see that's how they operate.

There have been many attempts at SA offsite forums and most of them are dead on arrival or if they do get some members they still die after a year or two. I lost count of how many attempted offsite replacements for D&D there have been.

The reason resetera worked was all the conversation on neogaf was in their general forum. SA discussion is spread over 30+ forums and sub forums. Goons also don’t want to feel like they wasted their $10 so even if they go to the offsite they still post on SA and eventually everyone just abandons the offsite.
 
Oddly enough, Lowtax updated his podcast while he calls Josh a nigger. I assume the outrage brigade would grow... if uh... anyone listened to the podcast besides two meth-d out Mexican truckers and me.
