Similar to (I think it was Steinrokkan, recognize the av) the guy who mentioned this earlier, I was on SA since....2006? I was permad for wrongthink by FAU with the reason "We don't like you" to paraphrase. I've probably given SA a grand or so over the last decade in avs/etc. because I really liked the site. I stuck with it through some particularly shitty times like Ralp-era GBS because I always had nostalgia for the place that I got to know during my own college years that had some frankly formative and good discussions about a huge variety of topics.

I think what finally got through to me that SA wasn't worth it anymore was that fucking godawful recent thread in GBS "It's time to discuss how we're torturing and raping children in DONALD DRDUSMHPFTS TORTURE CAMPS" that any competent or sane admin would've locked immediately, but it became increasingly clear FAU intended for it to be a honeypot anyway.

Looking at the various iterations of politics threads from roughly around the election up to the present thread, posts that would be completely innocuous or reasonable back then would be met with instant bans today. A fairly reasonable mix of conservatives, libs, and the more fringe guys would be present. Over time FAU has simply slowly permad or ran out everyone whose controversial opinions such as "maybe literal open borders is a bad idea" he didn't like. Now the politics threads are essentially screeching and arguing about who is really more woke. Why fucking bother anymore?

But why would FUA care? He runs the forums now, Lowtax pops even every 6 months and then goes back to twitter, and FUA gets to have the environment that he always wanted. FUA doesn't have to worry about forums bills, etc, and just has the run of the place until it finally dies. And honestly it will probably be a long time before SA dies.

The best thing is he'll pretend he's not mad in posts that will get increasingly terse (because he's totally not mad you guys) then people will start to eat bans for pissing on him or simply stating the obvious in a way that's not kissing up to him and eventually the topic gets closed. It's always the same. There, just saved you time navigating SA.

Also dropping a grand on SA is just sad, even when it was good. Sorry dude.

This is the ultimate irony. The giant fag that has presided over decades of some of the most petty moderation in the history of the internet is crying because he is being unfairly moderated.

If NeoGAF or ResetEra didn't exist SA would probably be the worst. SA only gets some points because they didn't make it their mission statement to be a terrible hugbox, it just happened incidentally whenever a moderator was in power that thought SA should be one.

Twitter is simply terrible, so terrible I've already evaded a ban to keep on shittweeting there with the account I said I'd only be using to promote SA threads. It sure is something awful to be banned for arbitrary reasons by random people with zero accountability to you.

edit: He may have received a temporary suspension on one of his first accounts, and I'm just conflating it as a 4th banned account.

Lowrax you dumb faggot, there were NO rules on SA. They were fucking made up as your mods went along and you could be banned for hurting a mods fee fees. You couldn't talk about anything that a mod didn't like without getting banned.

I'd say SA was the worst. With NeoGaf, you knew exactly what would get you banned. I was never surprised by a NeoGaf ban. SA was worse because it pretended to be this 'edgy' comedy forum to lure people into paying for it, however if you didn't like what a mod said or didn't follow their politics or God forbid you made an offensive joke on a comedy forum, you could be banned or probated. The reasoning changed frequently, you'd need a fucking diviner there to see what you could and couldn't say and to who. Even worse, it varies by the forum you are on. You are seriously stepping on eggshells every post you make. Nobody new is going to pay to post there. Not only that, people didn't even cross FORUMS because moderators made up shit as they went along, and if they said one bad thing on another board they could be banned.

It pretended to be a comedy forum as it devolved into humorless cunts and a safe space for ideologues, while keeping the same mission statement to attract unsuspecting users so they'd sign up and then get banned because they pissed off one of his dumb faggot moderators. Because that's how LowT made his money. Which is why it's the worst moderation on the internet, because banning and re-registering was its fucking business model and encouraged. Both actively and passively by LowT.

That and people who played along with his ban game until they realized they could have the same shitty moderation from the same shitty people for free on reddit. Now he relies on people who have been there for decades and wouldn't know what the fuck to do on the rest of the internet. Something Awful is the equivalent of the internet retirement home for spastics.
